Resolution n 4 adopted by the EPP Congress, Marseille, 7th-8th December 2011 Standing together in Europe The European Senior

Citizens Union, herewith, proposes that the Congress of the European Peoples Party on 7th-8th December 2011 in Marseille pass the following resolution: The European Union (EU) is called upon to invite all Eastern European states to seek and realise forms of a strong partnership relationship with the EU. Substantiation: Universal values cannot be constricted by political borders; thus, freedom, justice, human dignity and democracy demand an economic and social order, such as the enduring social market economy, which also allows these values to thrive. For these values to be respected and stabilised throughout Europe, the EU has a particular obligation to seek a complex of relationships with neighbouring Eastern European states with the aim of forming strong partnerships until a political ruling can be reached on the admission of these countries to the EU.
