Research Project

 M Pharm Research Project: “Design, Synthesis & Evaluation of Pyranochalcones &

Pyrazoline Derivatives as Novel Antimalarial Agents.”
The α-pyranochalcones & Pyrazoline derivatives were designed (modification to improve
protein (falcipain) -ligand affinity. These derivatives were synthesized using novel eco-friendly
method & characterized by IR, NMR. Finally, they were evaluated for in vitro antimalarial
activity against chloroquine sensitive (3D7) and resistant (RKL9) strain of P. falciparum &
further for cytotoxicity, both at International Center for Genetic Engg. & Biotech. (ICGEB),
New Delhi. Pyranochalcones found to possess promising activity and novel; pyrazolines were
active and were explored for the first time as an antimalarial agent. The actives were further
processed for computational prediction of ADMETox properties.
