Cotendo Advanced DNS
Cotendo CDN Applications Suite Dynamic Site Acceleration Content Delivery SSL CDN Balancer Advanced DNS Site Assure Real-Time Reporting
Cotendo Advanced DNS (ADNS) is a high performance, globally distributed DNS service for any web site or web service. It improves the performance and response of DNS services compared to the DNS infrastructure that most deploy, by providing DNS services from the full network of global Cotendo locations. This provides scalable performance without lag during times of high access traffic as well as resiliancy of operations with redundancy at each location and among all locations. The distributed nature of this advanced DNS service also provides a layer of security by eliminating a sites vulnerability to denial of service attacks when DNS is otherwise serviced from one to just a few locations. Security is further enhanced with proprietary high performance Cotendo software that does not have the known and potential vulernabilities of open source solutions. Increasing DNS performance generates a direct and measureable improvement in end user experience. Reducing the time a browser waits for initial resolution of site name to server address means that a browser can connect to your site faster and start receiving content faster. With Cotendo, there are additional performance benefits when Advanced DNS in used conjunction with Cotendos suite of delivery applications such as Content Delivery or Dynamic Site Acceleration. The additional step of resolving the location of the CDN is eliminated. The browser doesnt wait for the CDN domain to be resolved in DNS with Cotendo, which depending on CDN may actually take more than one additional step. Cotendo Advanced DNS has advanced features for DNS tailored to CDN use, such as allowing CNAME configuration to root domain (with no www.), rather than relying on a http redirection as others require. And common to all Cotendo services, ADNS features real-time control, where any configuration changes are reflected in Cotendos system and service in real time without delay or lag. Cotendo Advanced DNS gives a content provider the ability to allocate web traffic or audiences for any managed subdomain based on monetization strategy or business and IT policies. Advanced DNS has a flexible web-based management console where rules can be created and managed to implement content delivery policies created to optimize objectives such as user experience, system performance and/or cost of delivery. These rules include weighted allocation of traffic, users location, time of day and domain accessed.
