International House of Prayer of Greater Fort Wayne ...a day and night , city-wide, multi-church prayer and worship ministry

What Are You Hearing?

Recently we had a 50s party as part of The Gathering (our weekly meeting for young people). It was so fun to fellowship and play with this awesome group of young people (and adults) whom we deeply love. We played a familiar game known as telephone where one phrase is spoken to the first person and then repeated by whispering in the ear of the person next to them. 27 times later the phrase was not even close to the original. In this scenario it was very funny. However, in basic communication this is part of the problem: just trying to mimic instead of actually hearing and communicating what is meant to be communicated. Seven different times in His parables and later seven times in Johns revelation to the seven churches Jesus says: to him who has an ear let him hear...Hear What? It takes little effort to hear fear, disillusionment, accusation, discouragement or even despair but Jesus would have us hear something else. Jesus repeats this phrase to him who has an ear let him hear. The clear implication of all repetition on is that to hear the real truth it will require choice, discernment and will produce a response of faith. Yet, Beloved, Jesus was not speaking a random exhortation but one that is connected to the very core of Gods relationship to His people. Deut. 6:5, Mark 12...Hear O Israel...this daily declaration was and is a constant reminder to hear, discern and, in faith, respond in love. In fact, it was in this context that Jesus said over and over...to Him who has an ear...let him hear what the Spirit is saying. The Hebrew writer trumpets with absolute clarity what the Spirit is saying in Hebrews 1: In these days He has spoken in His Son whom He appointed heir of all things. Beloved what are you hearing as we move into the unknown seasons ahead of us as individuals, families, a nation, the kingdom of God? He has spoken this final word in His Son! His Son declared we are complete, adequate and called for this very hour! How do we hear what God has said in His Son? Beloved we hear the same way that John did as an old man in exile on the Isle of Patmos and as Paul heard in prison. We hear in the place of personal worship and meditation. I love the way Denise has expressed this so vividly recently. We pray to God first and towards the need next so that our focus is always on Him. Otherwise we lose focus and in losing focus we lose discernment and the clarity from the One who has given clarity to all things. (Col. 3:13) Like a camera either focuses in on what is near and the things farther away are blurry or it focuses on the things far away and what is near is blurry. Stay focused on who is near, dear friends of the Bridegroom! It is our Beloved. By keeping Him in focus fear and despair cannot come in. Beloved, What are you hearing? To him who has an ear let him hear what the Spirit is saying. It is really good!!

Whats Up With The Bouwers Family?

Devin is moving rapidly through his degree requirements and hopes to graduate in 2013 with a BA in Business and will move directly into his Masters of Business. His liver issue is maintaining for which we are thankful and hopeful. Because he works Sat-Mon we are happy to have him most Fridays for IHOP. Logan and Holly have just moved to a different (rental) home and are settling in. Logan plans to start back into school working towards his worship arts degree and Holly hopes to return to school working towards finishing her degree as well. We are delighted to have both of them working with IHOP as they can. Holden is off at IU Bloomington working towards his pre-med degree. He is holding all As currently and will technically be a sophomore after this semester. He has a wonderful group of friends. We were so happy to have him home for a long weekend where he was able to join in leading worship for us. We miss him. Madison is maintaining her top of the class status while working on many honors classes and enjoying her place in the high school show choir. They have already won a grand champion spot and are looking forward to the upcoming competition season. She is a regular antiphonal singer on our IHOP teams. Keagan is also doing very well as a freshman at Northrop. He too is in the show choir and enjoys being a part of this with his older sister. He plays djembe on a couple of the IHOP worship teams and is planning to soon move into singing. Donovan is also top of his class. He plays drums for several bands in middle school and is going to start playing on a team at IHOP. We are really pleased with how he and Keagan have worked to learn Spanish this year so they can be a help to their newest sisters. He is also is quite the prayer leader. Fun to watch. Danelia is a beautiful young girl and is doing very well. She is reading in English already and is really starting to get her math concepts. She really enjoys art and has prayed on the prayer mic a few times with Mom. A real delight to us. Jensy is getting over a broken ankle but is still full of smiles and giggles. She is looking forward to experiencing her first snow and is so fun have in our family.

With gratitude and integrity we steward your gifts. Thank you for partnering with the mission the Lord has given us in this hour as we partner with Him for His kingdom to be established.
