Rastislav Stojsavljevi Milka Bubalo ivkovi GENESIS OF SERBIAN MEDIEVAL TOWNS Summary Serbian medieval cities are witnessing a past times. They are just one part of the remains of the past of the Serbian state during the middle Ages. Medieval cities were witnessing the birth of the Serbian state and its independence. Within their walls appeared first conceived literacy and culture of Serbian people. Medieval towns were not like today. For this reason, their morphological structure and layout must be specifically studied. Must be studied and the historical events that caused their genesis, development and extinction. Due to the scarce literature and the fact that the Serbian state was conquered by the Turks and the cities to maintain a small extent, their study and reconstruction is so far only partially possible. And yet, modern technology by the day progresses and more is certain that it will contribute to explaining a number of facts related to the Serbian medieval cities. Many cities have been neglected and out of the tourist map of Serbia (Stojsavljevi et all, 2010). Historical geography in which this work is based must show and its practical importance and to include the Serbian medieval towns in the Serbian cultural heritage, because if you do not appreciate the hard work of our ancestors as you can expect that our work and our descendants will appreciate the effort.
