2 Trials
2.1 Trial 1
banana vs. alulinelocker. The webbing is very similiar to the ME webbing. We
don’t know the absolut breaking point. We put the webbing inside the banana
doubled so we had one free sling. we put this sling around the anker and connect
it to the 3rd screw of the banana.

breaking point: linelocker

2.7 Trials by Reinhard Kleindl

Longline-webbing, 2, 5cm wide, 25kN absolut breaking strength. In the second
testing he used the same webbing I used. Green webbing. The results were very
similiar to mine.

1 Bolzen-Linelocker in poliertem Schäkel vs. Banane (Fädel-Variante 2)

Breakingpoint: Banane (erste Umlenkung), bei 19,6kN

2 same setup as in 1
Breakingpoint: Bolzen-Linelocker (verrutschte unter Belastung), bei 20,6kN

3 Banane (Fädel1) gegen Banane (Fädel2)

Breakingpoint: Banane (Fädel1), bei 18,6kN

4 Banane (Fädel2) gegen Banane (Fädel2)

Breakingpoint: 20,4kN

2.8 summary
Within this tests we wanted to compare some different webbing with the linelocker
and the banana. We only tested each setup twice so it can’t be seen as a high
professional test setup. It should give you a first impression.
Refering to the reggae webbing which has an absolut breaking strength at 22kN
the linelocker reduces the breaking strength by 30% and the banana by about 10%.
When setting up a longline, you can quickly get close to the limits of your material,
or even beyond. A breaking longline is a very dangerous scenario. Inspite the fact
that you always must use scales when rigging longer lines, I suggest to step back
and walk the longlines with less tension. In our last longlinesessions we tighted the
180 meter line with 12kN. It’s possible to walk it!!!
