Interim Regional Academy Head Coach

London & South East Region Netball Association is looking for a committed, enthusiastic and flexible individual to lead the Regional Academy programme. The Regional Academy is part of the England Netball Excel Pathway and is an opportunity to work with some of the most talented netball athletes in the region. The Interim Regional Academy Head Coach is responsible for preparing the Regional Academy athletes for Regional Screening in February 2013 and National Screening in April 2013. The Regional Academy coach must plan, deliver and evaluate a high quality, multi-disciplinary programme, ensuring the development of all the athletes within the Academy. The role will be on a sessional basis as per England Netball recommended rates and dependant on experience. The aims and objectives, plus details of the role and responsibilities are shown below. REGIONAL ACADEMY HEAD COACH JOB DESCRIPTION Key responsibilities: 1. To follow Regional Academy programme, making amendments and alterations to suggested programme based on the players development and progress 2. Plan and deliver all sessions as directed by the Regional Academy programme. 3. Attend all Regional Academy sessions at Dartford, Brunel and Surrey Sports Park. 4. Ensure players are completing their Fitness programme. Advise and support players accordingly. 5. Carry out regular fitness tests in line with England Netball requirements e.g. hop and Stop, FMS, multi stage fitness test 6. Support and provide opportunities for assistant coach to lead/deliver part of sessions 7. Liaise with parents and athletes, answer any email or phone queries 8. Take the register and track players' attendance at all sessions 9. Liaise with Sports Psychologist 10. Work with the Talent Group and the Regional Coordinator to organise and run Regional Screening. 11. Inform England Netball of the 10 nominated athletes for National Screening.

The Regional Academy Head Coach must have the following experience/knowledge: 1. Experience of working with high performance athletes in a training and competitive environment. 2. Take an athlete-centred approach to coaching, ensuring each athlete is consistently improving and developing. 3. Have attended an Excel Framework workshop and have in depth knowledge of Excel Pathway and programmes 4. Have a sound knowledge of the fundamental fitness requirements for an elite netball player and how these are implemented in a programme and at training e.g. Strength and conditioning, cardio vascular fitness etc. Desired qualities: 1. Highly organised and punctual for all sessions 2. Is creative and reactive to what is happening in sessions, and to the athletes' needs 3. Positive approach to coaching and the development of the athlete. 4. Promote a positive and safe learning environment where mistakes are viewed as part of the learning process 5. Have an athlete-centred approach, where the athletes development is paramount and of sole priority.
