1.(A)(i). A double acting reciprocating pump running at 40rpm,is discharging1.0m3/min of water ,pump as a stroke length of 400mm.Thediameter of the piston is 200mm.The delivery and suction heads are 20m and 5m respectively. Find the slip of the pump and power required to drive the pump. (12) (ii). What is the difference between single acting and double acting pump? (4) (OR) (B)(i).A double acting reciprocating pump ,running at 50rpm is discharging 900 liters of water per minute. The pump has a stroke of 400mm.The diameter of piston is 250mm.The delivery and suction heads are 25m and 4m respectively. Find the slip of the pump and power required to drive the pump. (12) (ii).write down the formula of work done, power, discharge and slip for double acting reciprocating pump? (4) 2.(A) The inlet and throat diameters of a horizontal venturimeter are 30 cm and 10 cm respectively. The liquid flowing through the meter is water. The pressure intensity at inlet 13.73 N/cm2 while the vacuum pressure head at the throat is 37cm of mercury. Find the rate of flow . Assume that 4% of the differential head is lost between the inlet and throat. Find coefficient of discharge value for venturimeter? (16) (OR) (B) A 45 degree reducing bend is connected in a pipe line, the diameters at the inlet and throat of the bend being 600mm and 300mm respectively. Find the magnitude and direction of the resultant force, if pressure intensity at inlet to bend is 8.829 N/cm2 and rate of flow of water is 600 lits/sec. (16)
