Expanding its Services
TC Construction is responding to a changing economy by concentrating on public works projects, diversification
of services, progressive training techniques for its employees and transitioning to a paperless office environment.

I n 2007 and 2008, TC Construction Company in Santee,
Calif., shifted gears and began to concentrate on public
works projects. “The downturn in the residential sector
contributed to the shift in focus for our company,” President
Steve Coker explains.
“TC Construction has performed public works projects
for over 30 years. Previously, about 30 percent of our proj-
ects had been in the public sector, with the balance of our
work in housing developments and commercial projects,”
he says. “The housing market slowed down, so we began
focusing more on public works projects.”
A versatile and progressive leader in the construction
industry, TC Construction has mainly specialized in the
conveyance and storage of water, waste water, sewage and
other by products, Coker says.
Over the past seven years, TC Construction has evolved
into a leading multifaceted corporation with the ability to
provide a diverse group of services, including demolition,
concrete structures, retaining walls, asphalt paving, materi-

600 specialty contractors and ranked No. 6 in the utility con-
tractor division.
Last year, the company completed the Otay Water Reservoir
and Recycle Pump Station in Otay, Calif. The project featured
installation of a recycled water pump station and a 12-million-
gallon steel water tank that can hold and disperse recy-
cled water.
“The tank is about 9,000 square feet and is the largest
steel tank of its kind in the state,” Vice President Austin
Cameron explains.
