Q.01. A 1m long steel rod of rectangular section 80mm X 40mm is subjected to an axial tensile load of 200KN. Find the strain energy and maximum stress produced in it for the following cases when load is applied gradually and when load falls through a 5 2 height of 100mm. Take E = 2 x 10 N/mm . Q.02. Draw the shear force and bending moment diagram for the beam as shown in figure.

Q.03. Determine the stress in all the three sections and total deformation of the steel rod as shown in figure. 2 Cross-sectional area = 10cm , E = 200GPa. Q.04. (i) Define and differentiate between perfect, deficient and redundant truss. (ii) Derive the relationship between shear force, bending moment and loading for a beam. What are the assumptions required for this derivation? SECTION-C NOTE: Attempt any two Questions: 5 x 2 = 10 Marks Q.01. The motion of a particle is defined by the relation X = 6t 2t 12t 3t + 3. Determine the time, position, velocity and distance traveled when acceleration is zero. Q.02. A straight rigid link AB of length 50cm, the end B of the link moves along X-Axis with a velocity of 4m/s and accelerates with an 2 acceleration of 10m/s . The end A is constrained to move along Y-Axis. Find the velocity and acceleration of the end A at the given instant. Q.03. Two weights P and Q are connected by the arrangement as shown in figure. Neglecting the friction and inertia of the pulleys and cord, find the acceleration a of the weight Q. Assume that P=178 N and Q=133.5 N.
