Faithful Citizenship Quote

"We urge those Catholic officials who choose to depart from Church teaching on the inviolability of human life in their public life to consider the consequences for their own spiritual well being, as well as the scandal they risk by leading others into serious sin. We call on them to reflect on the grave contradiction of assuming public roles and presenting themselves as credible Catholics when their actions on fundamental issues of human life are not in agreement with Church teaching. No public official, especially one claiming to be a faithful and serious Catholic, can responsibly advocate for or actively support direct attacks on innocent human life" (US Bishops, Living the Gospel of Life, 1998, n. 32).

Mardi Gras/Spring Fling Quilt Donations

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to help defray the costs of making the new quilt for our 2013 raffle. As stated in the previous notice, our expenses were nearly $300 and we are still $115 short of that goal. I would encourage those who have not yet donated to help out so that we can reach that goal. Thank you in advance for your generosity and thank you again to those who have already donated.

Stewardship and Development

Stewardship Thought: Todays Scripture passages from the prophet Baruch and the reference to Isaiah in St. Lukes Gospel proclaim that every valley will be filled, every mountain leveled, and every path made straight in the Lord. St. Paul encourages us, through love of Christ, to value only those things that matter. These beautiful texts teach us that through the Lord, lives can be fulfilled; reconciliation and healing can occur in the most difficult situations; and with the Lord, all can be made spiritually whole. What a powerful message for Christian stewards during this Advent season, as we anticipate the celebration of Christs birth. Development Thought: All sorts of assets make special year-end gifts to benefit the Catholic Church. This includes shares of stock and mutual funds, mineral interests or bonus/royalty payments, gifts of paid-up life insurance, real estate gifts, crops/ livestock, and cash. Any of these can be given outright to benefit our parish or our diocese and most may also be used to fund a planned gift (which often means greater tax benefits and excellent rates of return for an income back to you). There is ample time to make a year-end gift to the Church. For free, confidential assistance in arranging your gift, visit with Judy Held, Stewardship, at 800-332-9998. She can help you plan a gift on behalf of our parish or our diocese.

Worldwide Marriage Encounter

St Paul tells us that we are blessed and chosen by God; we are called with a purpose to live according to the will of God so that we might give praise and glory to God. Does the way you live your life and especially your marriage give praise and glory to God? Let God transform your marriage relationship so that you can live according to Gods will and give praise and glory to Him. Apply and submit your $50 application fee by December 15 and receive a gift box of Hugs and Kisses for your spouse, along with a certificate for the weekend of your choice. Please mention code: Christmas Love. 2013 weekend dates: Billings, January 25-27, 2013 ~ Casper, February 8-10, 2013 ~ Laramie, April 5-7, 2013. Contact Chris and Angie Stokes at (406)6473687 or angillions@bresnan.net. Check out our website at www.wwmesection9.org

Care Cups
Please donate coffee cups/mugs to the church basement for use in providing Care Cups. These cups are used in the patient rooms at our hospital as a reminder that we care about them and are praying for them. Madeline Itcaina fills these cups with goodies and distributes them to the Phillips County Hospital with our help. Thank You! To reserve the Parish Basement or other St. Marys facility, please contact Fr. Cory or Lana at the Parish Office.

Mass Intentions
As Catholics, we have a long tradition of having Masses celebrated for those we wish to offer up in prayer. The Mass is the ultimate form of prayer, and each Mass is celebrated for an intention. Please consider having Masses celebrated for family and friends on special occasions and anniversaries, as well as those who are in need of prayers. Masses are also encouraged in memory of those loved ones who have died, especially on the anniversaries of their deaths. Contact Fr. Cory for more information!

We have a long list of GRADITUDE:

To EVERYONE who helped with the Harvest Dinner and Bazaar. Again, this event draws everyone to help and YOU made it a success. Gross proceeds were over $3000 and those funds will help sustain PCCW and make some much needed improvements to our kitchen and reception hall. To the family of Marge Sundseth who suggested PCCW (Altar Society) for memorials in honor of their mother. One fond memory of Marge is in the Dining Room during our Harvest Dinner. Back then the ladies wore high heels and fancy aprons :) To Julie (Lundstrom) Snellman for creating our Soldier Tree. Thanks too to all the Moms who helped with names and addresses. Please let us know if we have missed someone and we will add them to our mailing list. Thank you to all who help make our luncheons and fellowship following funeral services so wonderful. To all band members, thank you for ALL you do to keep us looking good in Gods eyes.

December 19th starting at 5:30 PM in the Church basement as we prepare cookie trays and deliver them to those in our parish and community in need of a little extra cheer this year. Soup supper will be shared along with a lot of love and joy as we take on this special activity. Once the trays are packaged we will join in small groups and deliver them. Bring your Santa hat! Each monthly band is asked to contribute at least 2 dozen cookiesthere is special need for cookies that are low calorie or diabetic suitable. Cookies should be delivered before 5:30 on the 19th. Instead of a gift exchange, please bring an item for the Giving Wreath to help us meet unmet needs of families in our community.

The GIVING WREATH

Some very private and special needs have been drawn to our attention this Christmas season and a special GIVING WREATH is being created. It will feature gift tags of needed items for kids and families that maybe fall thru the cracks of the traditional programs and systems. This is not meant to detract from the Angel Program conducted each year. Please still give to that program first, but if you have a little extra, consider the Giving Wreath. The special wreath will be displayed in the church basementplease take a tab label and fulfill the need. Wrapped items can be left in the church basement (Back meeting room please) or delivered to Mary Brady before December 19th or bring the item PCCWs Christmas Social on that day. If you know of someone with a special need to be considered for this list, please contact Mary Brady ASAP. Thank you to Mary for confidentially handling this special task. Remember, the deadline to have wrapped packages to the church basement is December 19th no later than 5:30.

Reminders & Items of Need:

up church for Christmas.

especially during the Christmas season. This is part of our welcome Starting after Mass on back campaign for evangelism. We do have a list, but if you know December 22nd. of a special someone that could use a personal invite back to the Catholic faith, please let Fr. Cory or Madeline Itcaina know and we will happily include them. New things to look for in the coming year: New officers (at least President and VP), kitchen and facility improvements, new monthly band lists and informative letter and a new childrens play area at the bottom of the stairs. The brides room area will be moved to give our little people a place to be kids and have some fun during coffee & rolls, socials and events. (We are looking for helpers to set this up as well).

2 people to Co-Chair
the Spring Fling! There are lots of good notes and helpers, it just needs leaders (not necessarily PCCW ladies) Thanks Marcella for the donation of the gas range to our kitchen.

We Pray Together
Prayer for the New Evangelization
Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. But how can they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how can they believe in him of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone to preach? And how can people preach unless they are sent? Romans 10: 13-15 Heavenly Father, Pour forth your Holy Spirit to inspire me with these words from Holy Scripture. Stir in my soul the desire to renew my faith and deepen my relationship with your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ so that I might truly believe in and live the Good News. Open my heart to hear the Gospel and grant me the confidence to proclaim the Good News to others. Pour out your Spirit, so that I might be strengthened to go forth and witness to the Gospel in my everyday life through my words and actions. In moments of hesitation, remind me: If not me, then who will proclaim the Gospel? If not now, then when will the Gospel be proclaimed? If not the truth of the Gospel, then what shall I proclaim? God, our Father, I pray that through the Holy Spirit I might hear the call of the New Evangelization to deepen my faith, grow in confidence to proclaim the Gospel and boldly witness to the saving grace of your Son, Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Prayer for Religious Liberty

O GOD OUR CREATOR, from your provident hand we have received our right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. You have called us as your people and given us the right and the duty to worship you, the only true God, and your Son, Jesus Christ. Through the power and working of your Holy Spirit, you call us to live out our faith in the midst of the world, bringing the light and the saving truth of the Gospel to every corner of society. We ask you to bless us in our vigilance for the gift of religious liberty. Give us the strength of mind and heart to readily defend our freedoms when they are threatened; give us courage in making our voices heard on behalf of the rights of your Church and the freedom of conscience of all people of faith. Grant, we pray, O heavenly Father, a clear and united voice to all your sons and daughters gathered in your Church in this decisive hour in the history of our nation, so that, with every trial withstood and every danger overcome for the sake of our children, our grandchildren, and all who come after us this great land will always be one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

A Family Prayer for the Year of Faith

O God our Father, in Jesus you call all Christian families and homes to be signs of living faith. By the light of the Holy Spirit, lead us to be thankful for the gift of faith, and by that gift may we grow in our relationship with Jesus, your Son, and be confident witnesses to Christian hope and joy to all we meet. In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
