TRADITIONAL TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT PRACTICES: Presentation Method:


Includes Lectures, Student Presentations, Panels, Team Teaching, Guest Speakers etc. which involves the trainer communicating the spoken words, what he/she wants to communicate. Employees in such a case are passive learners, who gain knowledge with whatever information they are provided with passively.

Hands On Method:
These methods are the methods that require the trainee to be actively involved in the learning. These include On-the-job training, Simulations, Case studies, Business games, Role plays, Behaviour Modelling etc.

Group Building Modelling:


These are the methods that are designed to buil team or group effectiveness. These include, Sharing ideas & experience, Building group Identity, Understanding interpersonal dynamics, Learning their strengths & weakness & of their co-workers.

Self-Learning:
Self-learninghas always been an effective training & development tool for any sector. Employees when perform the jon=bs, come to know about their strengths & weaknesses which compell hem to learn more, to improve on their working skills.

As a change in the environment & the technological changes that have immersed in the present, new & innovative training & development practices are being adopted by the organisations. Studying the T & D practices of MetLife Insurance, we can see the effect of the dynamic environment.
Metlife has various learning & development programs available running under "Learning & Development" Department which can help their employees improve on their knowledge & skills.The duration of these

trainings varies from 1 day to maximum 3 days.Some of the trainings performed at Metlife are highlighted below :Business writing skills Interacting with confidence Business Migration Methodology Descision Driven Organisation The organisation has recently started language courses to build future capabilities within the organisation to develop talent for future. Employees can enroll themselves once recommended by their supervisors. Once the employee is skilled in that particular language, can be utilized for international processes which may be acquire by the company in future. Supervisor to share the individual performance of his team along with his/her areas of improvements and suggestions to improve them also helps in the growth of employees. Organisation is also connected with an Institute through which employees can do MBA courses in various streams paid by the organisation once completed.
