Each student will have a portfolio, which will contain assignments to be turned in, and the projects. Project #1 This is hands on project were the student would decide what type of sampling and then collects the data accordingly (not on the computer). From the data the student will find the mean, median, mode, range, standard deviation, draw a histogram, pie graph, find a margin of error, confidence interval, and compute how many pieces of data needed to be 99% confidence of the sample mean? Be sure to address the 8 guide lines on page 5. Project #2 Find data and use at least 10 of the ordered pairs to: 1. Draw a scatter plot.

2. Compute the Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient. 3. Interpret the Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient. 4. 4. Find the regression line. 5. Plot and draw the regression line against the scattered diagram.

ATTENDANCE: As stated in the school catalog.

ACADEMIC DISHONESTY POLICY: Cheating on an exam or assignment will result in an automatic F in the course.

ASSIGNMENTS: Homework is not collected. You are responsible for working a sufficient number of problems to insure your proficiency in problem solving. Class participation is encouraged to promote some thought on and use of the materials that are being covered.

EXAMS: All exams will be written in pencil on your own paper. If graphing is required, all graphs must be on graph paper and finished with the aid of a straight edge and colored pencils. All axes must have arrows and must be labeled. All work must be shown and reflect what was taught in the chapter and as the directions are stated. If the answer is an approximation, then the answer should be shown with a four decimal accuracy. No credit will be given: if the preceding directions have not been followed, if no work is shown or not fully explained, if work is too messy to understand, if method is not taught in the chapter being tested, a correct answer is obtained by luck, after making mathematical and/or logical errors.

EXTRA CREDIT: There is usually no extra credit. If extra credit is assigned, it will be handled with the discrepancy of the professor.

FINAL GRADE: Averaging the test scores, doubling that sum, adding in the final exam score, and then dividing by 3 will obtain the final grade. This gives the tests a weight of 2/3 of your final grade, and your final exam a weight of 1/3 toward your final grade. This applies only if there is a comprehensive final exam.

MAKE-UP POLICY: No make-ups. Incomplete grades will not be issued.

CALCULATOR: No specific calculator is required. Almost any $12 scientific calculator will do the job. NO GRAPHING , PROGRAMMABLE CALCULATORS OR CELL PHONES ALLOWED.

ETIQUETTE: All students are expected to treat everyone and all materials with respect. Cell telephones are to be turned off during class.

WITHDRAWALS: I do not withdraw students from class. The responsibility of withdrawing from class and knowing the last day to withdraw (audit) will be up the individual student.

EXEMPTS: You may be exempt from the final exam, if the final exam is accumulative and you have made an A on all tests. In this case, you would receive an automatic A. If you have an A or B average, you will receive an automatic B as a final grade. To earn an A you will be required to take the final exam and score appropriately.

TEACHING STYLE: Basically lecture with questions and answers. Some at desk assignments with help from other students as a learning tool.

DISABILITY SUPPORT SERVICES: Students with disabilities are advised, in compliance with federal and state laws, that accommodations and services are available through the office of Disabled Student Services Advisors. The student must submit to that office the appropriate documentation prior to receiving services.

If you miss class you are responsible for obtaining notes and problems assigned from a fellow student.
