I put together a personal list of amazing friends who shine through as heroes in my eyes.

I just wanted to share this with you and extend a huge thank to people who do kind things every day. You are very much appreciated and loved. Moments that restored my faith in amazing friendship, humanity, and love. 1. Mittar Khalsa taking time out of a busy schedule to be a big brother to Trinity. Trinity has an amazing role model to look up to now and their friendship and bond will be remembered forever. Mittar makes Trinity a priority and spends time doing fun activities together while teaching valuable skills and love. He is dedicated to the program and even attends countless mentoring workshops offered by BBBSC to gain skills for his time with his little brother and also to actively and openly share his experiences with other matches. Thanks Mittar for being a role model and hero we can all look up to.

2. Friends helping friends in their time of need. It was about more than the $4,500 that were raised to help Dom with his medical expenses, it was about putting a smile back on his face and letting him know he had people to lean on. Everyone wanted to let him know they cared and the candle flame was lit for a path of hope. Dom began to suffer from abdominal pain on February 4th, 2012. After being in and out of the hospital for weeks at a time, the doctors diagnosed Dom with sever pancreatitis. Dom lost his job and was not covered under health insurance. He became dependent on IV bags that contained nutrients and could not eat or drink for some time. There was an outstanding group that planned and organized everything including Aron Blocher, Erica Weidenfeld, Jeff Wellemeyer, and Levi Martin. Then there was the amazing group of volunteers to pull everything together including Kerry Little, Patrina McCauley, Krestin Synan, Gabe Dennison, Sophie Zaleski, Ntxuam Vang, April Vogel, and more. And last but not least, all the unbelievable people who gave their money and time and had a great time playing volleyball for a great cause. Jeff Wellemeyer also participated in playing the game Earthbound online for 25.5 consecutive hours which streamed to more than 300 viewers for an amazing donation turnout from across the country to help pay for Doms bills. Dom is now doing much better, and he knows he can turn to his friends.

3. Nancy and Eric Otterstrom helping their friends paint out of the kindness of their hearts. They received nothing in return but a heartfelt thank you. Its refreshing to see people who are willing to assist their friends when help is needed. It could be anything from helping out financially, helping someone move or paint, or whatever other situation may arise. I feel that if they are asked to help or give, they will. A huge thank you to all the friends out there, just like Nancy and Eric, who give freely just to help another friend. 4. The Wybenga family helping out for a cause. Every year, the Wybenga family comes together to give to MS Awareness to find a cure. Cheryl Wybenga has struggled with MS and is an important part of the family. There is a walk in Denver that they give money to, raise money for, and participate in walking in. This last year a few friends joined in with Jeannie, Heidi, James, Mel, Sam, Cherly, and others for the walk and I gaurentee they will all be out next year wearing their orange and raising money to help Cheryl and all those with MS to gain hope. Kudos to giving back to an important need for the family. And thank you to all of you who gave money to the team. 5. Helping raise funds for the firemen. Aron Blocher and CVC put on a volleyball tournament to help raise funds for these important firefighters who give so much in other peoples time of need. These firemen graciously accepted her gift and participated by showing up and being available for pictures as well as playing around with the volleyball. A huge thanks needs to go out to everyone who signed up to donate and play including Bryan Rowland, Kevin Euser, Kevin Dill, Elizabeth Dill, Ntxuam Vang, April Vogel, and many more. 6. Speaking of firefighters, one of our friends, Rufat Asadullaev, risks everything fighting for those in danger and their property. He works for North Washington Fire Protection District and puts his life on the line everytime a fire threatens our family, friends, and community. Colorado was overwhlemed with fires this summer and his important contribution helped control, and ultimately put these fires to rest. A huge thank you needs to go out to every firefighter who helps protect their community from loss of property and in severe cases, loss of life.

7. Lauren Radtke, who is supporting RSD Awareness through her small business and through her Facebook page she started. Her page, Raising Hope, Awareness, and Donations, was created to help friends such as Jennifer Sampson who have to deal with the effects of RSD everyday. Her site is a place to donate or to come together as a community just to offer support for those suffering. 8. Ian Williams, who started the company disastees.com to support victims of disaster. This site sells t-shirts that support the victims of tragedy, including a recent tragedy that took Colorado by surprise. He created a graphic logo on a t-shirt that depicts how good always prevails over evil while making it apply to the Aurora theater shooting. One hundred percent of these net profits from this specific shirt were given to the families of the victims. He tells a story through his graphic designs and sends these profits from his shirts to a family, charity or cause in need of help. 9. Tiffany Fleming, who creates events for giving. Tiffany put together an event after the wildfires took over our Colorado summer to give back to those who lost their homes. She also put together a clothing drive for local people who are less fortunate this Christmas season. She offered to drive around and pick up items if you were to busy to drop them off to her location. The call was for warm clothes, canned food or dried goods, or cash donations. Its people like Tiffany who help gather that extra ounce of neccessities to keep giving people hope during the holiday season.

10. James Wybenga filled in pretty much last minute as the person to marry PJ and me. He went through the process he needed to make sure he could legally perform the wedding for us with only a couple months notice. PJs father was to marry us, but passed away shortly before the wedding was to take place. It took a lot of courage, understanding, and love to step in to fill his fathers shoes and it was appreciated more than he knew. Thank you so much James for making our wedding such a success. We couldnt have asked for a better person to do that for us. 11. Last, but definitely not least. To my wonderful husband, PJ, for making me belive in love. I did not believe in love, nor did I believe I would ever find someone that I would want to marry and spend the rest of my life with. He was the one who understood where I was coming from and made me feel special. He broke through to my heart when no one else could. I couldnt be happier and I am so in love with him. He brought me adventure and laughter as we do everything together from throwing parties to traveling around the world. I want to thank him from the bottom of my heart for everything he has done for me. I love you!
