(Man): A mirror is a highly reflective surface that light bounces off of. The mirrors commonly found in todays homes are known as back-silvered mirrors because a silver-colored metal called aluminum is used. To make a mirror, a thin layer of aluminum is placed onto a flat piece of glass. People wrongly believe that it is the glass that reflects the light. In reality, it is the aluminum that reflects the light. The glass is used to protect the aluminum from getting damaged. Early mirrors were created by simply polishing a suitable object until it became highly reflective. Cavemen made mirrors by grinding obsidian and polishing it to an extreme shine. Obsidian is black glass formed when lava cools quickly. Incredibly, these obsidian mirrors have remarkable properties. Even the smallest details can be seen clearly in their reflections. Adrian trained for weeks before the challenge date. He ran, he swam, he did sit-ups, and all his sister did was play rope with her friends for hours at a time. The day finally arrived. One of the coaches was the official judge. When he blew his whistle they began jumping. Five minutes into the challenge, Adrians legs were exhausted. He looked over at his sister.
