The list below represents a compilation of information on water testing resources in v arious parts of India. The list uploaded here has been prepared from the information collected and compiled by NEERI, Nagpur and AIIH & PH, Kolkata with the professional support of a senior consultant and in collaboration with WHO India Country Office, New Delhi. The information submitted by the participating laboratories in this directory has not been further v erified. The information contained in the directory summarizes the information supplied by the participating laboratories during the period December 2004 to April 2005. Dear Mr. V ijay Krishna, It is indeed a good idea to maintain a State wise comprehensiv e list of customer oriented routine Water Quality testing agencies. Care has to be taken to categorise agencies who can prov ide reliable analy sis of water samples at a short notice, within a reasonable cost in a costomer friendly attitude. There are many high lev el national testing laboratories whose serv ices are best utilized for specilized tests. As far as Geohy drological serv ices for water wells are concerned, Action for Food Production (AFPRO), a national lev el NGO (www.afpro.org) is still the best and most cost effectiv e. I represent Maithri, an organisation from Palakkad, Kerala. We are maintaining a water quality testing lab (1 2 parameters at present) in Y akkara in Palakkad. The kit included 2 parameters - fluoride and nitrate and also bacterial contamination (H2S strip).
