Ronso

From hot steamy jungles to frozen forests tribes the cat-like Ronso live in perfect harmony with nature. Known for their battle prowess, keen senses and love of all things natural the Ronso are proud and noble race. Personality: As showing ones teeth can be considered a threat, Ronso are slow to laugh or jest. They are an incredibly stern group that say little but do a lot. Honor pervades through their entire culture and so to be afraid or to run away is taboo. Most Ronso follow Druidism and have a great respect for nature. As the poet Marlow once said, Woe to anyone who defiles a forest upwind of a Ronso. Physical Description: Ronso, in their language means Cat Warriors and the name is perfectly accurate. These bipedal felines vary in height from 5 feet to 7 feet tall. They are strong, muscular and weigh about as much as men. Like normal cats, their fur colors vary greatly but some of the most common are Black, Brown, Blue, White, and Red. Both gender have lion like tails with a fluffy bulb on the end. As Ronso grew more evolved and learned to use weapons, some of their feline-like qualities dwindled. While their teeth still remain razor sharp, Ronso claws have shrunk to nothing more than figure nails. Due to various factors (genetics, diet, lifestyle) Ronso are considered adults at 15 and usually only live to 60 years old. Relations: Ronso get along well with elves and half-elves due to their common affinity with nature. Ronso also get along with the Orcs and half-orcs who follow Druidism. The ones that still cling to Demonism are sworn enemies. As far as humans, dwarves, gnomes, and halfings are concerned, Ronso are neutral. Like mortality, Ronso have learned to accept these other races as a part of what the world is. They may not like a race but they understand that a peaceful coexistence is usually best for them and for the land. However, should they be angered, Ronso are the last to the negotiating table and will turn to violence as their solution. Alignment: Ronso respect nature above good and evil, law and order. Therefore, Ronso PCs must always be part neutral (LN, NG, N, NE, CN). There are some rare cases of Ronso being of other alignments however this usually comes as a result of living in foreign lands with races other than Ronso. Ronso Lands: Ronso are a nomadic group who claim no specific area as their own. However, in general, they like to live in places that are alive. Forests, jungles, and plains are examples. Religion: About 95% Ronso follow Druidism, the few that dont are seen as heretics. The Ronso do respect followers of Farore for courage is paramount in Ronsoian society. Languages: Ronso speak their own language known as Feles. It is a gruff language that is very complicated to learn. Ronso also have the ability to communicate with Cats. This is not a language, it is more of an affinity, and it does not necessarily mean that they will listen (a Ronso can try to convince a hungry lion not to eat him but it may not work). Ronso can learn to speak other languages but it is hard to do so. Names: A Ronsos name usually comes from their father or grandfather. Their names translate to things in nature (Runningwolf, SilentHawk, Thunderbear etc.) Male Names: Kimahri, Yenke, Biran, Corso, and Droog. Female Names: Valdana, Nara, Venku, Phanio, and Ungelis. Clan Names: Clans are simply named after the region in which they exist. For instance, Kimahri lives on Mount Gagazet so he is known as Kimahri of Gagazet.

Adventures: Ronso are eager to prove their valor in combat and bring honor to their clan. While money does not lure them as much as other races, it still has its worth. For the most part though, they strive to protect nature and uphold their clans honor. Ronso Racial Stats +1 Strength, +2 Dexterity, -2 intelligence, -1 charisma: Ronso are strong and agile, however they lack the discipline for improving their intellect. They also tend to be gruff and blunt to a point, which often aggravates other races. ~Popular saying, Youre about as good as a Ronsian Diplomat! Medium-size: While Ronso are bigger than humans they are still considered size medium and therefore receive no bonuses or penalties due to their size. Base Speed: 30 feet. Lowlight vision: Like cats, Ronso have highly acute eyes and can see twice as far as humans in partial darkness. +2 Bonus on climb and jump: Ronso are extremely athletic. +2 on Move Silently and Listen Checks: This is due to the feline ancestory of Ronso. +2 Morale Save bonus versus fear spells: Courage is the corner stone of Ronso culture. May select SCENT as a feat. This powerful FEAT is described in the DMG on page 81. Ronso of any class may access ANIMAL EMPATHY when dealing with Felines and they receive a +4 when doing so. Ronso must have 11+ wisdom to access this feat. Automatic Languages: Ronso have their own native tongue and can communicate with cats to a degree (not a language). Ronso DO NOT receive Common for free. Favored Class: Barbarian. Classes: There are virtually no Ronso wizards or bards. To be a wizard requires a great deal of studying and determination, virtues that Ronso lack. To be a bard, one must be witty, charming and charismatic (this is exactly what Ronso are not).
