UNIVERSITI TENAGA NASIONAL STATICS REPORT ( MEMB 123 )

Introduction As student that are taking Statics MEMB123 course has received a project to design a model of bridge. We cooperated as a team to complete this project. We had took two weeks to finish the model of the bridge. Our bridge named Moyog Bridge because the location of the original bridge is at Sungai Moyog, Penampang, Sabah. Our focus is to replicate, innovate and redesign the bridge to achieve the maximum load it can receive.

Objective Design a model of a bridge with specification given that can withstand maximum load. Learn the process of designing a bridge Apply the theory that we have learn from this course Cultivate leadership within the team Improve skills regarding finishing a project Build soft skill

Problem Statement An area in Sabah needs further development in connecting peoples crossing their vast river. Their resources are limited, mostly they commute daily using boats or raft to cross over their river. We want to test if our bridge is the most efficient to be built at a location there. To test for this, we provided everything in our needs in making this our problem, to our solution

Truss Every bridge consists of truss. What is it? A truss is a structure comprising one or more triangular units constructed with straight members whose ends are connected at joints referred to as nodes. External forces and reactions to those forces are considered to act only at the nodes and result in forces in the members which are either tensile or compressive forces.

Design Specification 70 cm length 10 cm width 15 - 20 cm height

We tested a few more weight such as 6kg, 9kg, and 15kg. The bridge hold up sturdily and it seems can withstand even more weight.
