SERIES-RACE DIRECTOR - Dot Wong: Dot@SoCalCross.org WEBSITE: www.SoCalCross.org Google Map: Pierce College - 6201 Winnetka Avenue - Woodland Hills CA 91371 Stadium Parking Lot DIRECTIONS: From US-101 Take exit 25 for Winnetka Ave toward Woodland Hills. Turn RIGHT at Winnetka Ave. Turn LEFT at Brahma Dr. Drive up road and LEFT onto Stadium Way into stadium parking lot. THE COURSE: This course is comprised of 90% dirt and 10% grass including established cross county running track and off-camber sloping hillside. The bike pit is located where the course parallels itself just before turning left on to the finish straight. Obstacles include: one double barrier section, one log set, and one mulch pit. This course includes two power climbs, one run up. Each lap is approximately 3.0km in length. Races are timed circuits on the course based on category. A bike wash hose and spicket is located at the track entrance. THE VENUE: Founded in 1947, Pierce is a comprehensive college with almost 100 disciplines being taught to more than 23,000 students each semester. It is one of the nine colleges of the Los Angeles Community College District, and is fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, a nationally recognized accrediting agency. Located on 426 acres in the western San Fernando Valley, nestled next to the thriving business district of Warner Center, Pierce College combines state-of-the-art technology and learning with the picturesque beauty of its rolling hills. The campus' setting among 2,200 trees, thousands of rose bushes, a nature preserve, a botanical garden and a forest area boasting giant redwoods makes it most unique in the Los Angeles metropolitan area. The COURSE IS OPEN FOR RIDER INSPECTION 8:30am on race day and in between waves through out the day. Racers may enter course PAST the finish line when instructed to do so by the race officials and shortly after the first race winner crossed the line. Please do not pass riders still racing on course and cross the finish line while another race is in progress. REGISTRATION: Online registration is available via AthletePath.com. Go to www.socalcross.org/register for details. Online registration closes Thursday January 3rd at 11:59PM (Pacific). Race Day registration opens at 7:30am then 2 hours prior to each race wave start then closes 20 minutes prior to each wave start. ENTRY FEES: *$5.00 addl race price applies after HIGHER entry is paid except Juniors who race the Juniors race first. RULES: Event will be held rain or shine. No refunds. Bicycle and wheel changes are allowed in the designated pit areas only. Helmets required. Water feeds are allowed. Cyclocross or hard tail mountain bikes (no bar ends) are best for handling the terrain and obstacles on course as well as getting on the off the bike. Mountain Bike pedals and shoes are preferred or flat pedals with tennis shoes for beginners. This event is held under American Bicycle Racing Permit. 2012 ABR rules apply. www.AmBikeRace.com ABR is dedicated to Promote, Educate and Service the Sport of Bicycle Racing. USA Cycling does not recognize non-USAC permitted events for their ranking and upgrade points structure. Warming up on the Course Once the last rider has crossed the line in the current active wave, the race officials will allow riders to pre-ride the course to become familiar with route and obstacles. Please enter the course past the finish line and do not pass or enter in front of riders who are still racing on the course. As in the past, while pre-riding do not cross the finish line while the timing system is running and do not pass active racers on course. There will always be enough time to complete one lap before the next race starts. Once the next race has started, warming up on the course is not allowed. CATEGORIES: Senior (over 18 years of age in 2013) and Masters categories may be listed by ability as well as age. Ability categories are as follows. The Prestige Series discourages sandbagging. USA Cycling does not recognize American Bicycle Racing events for cyclocross category upgrades or national ranking points. A B C USAC Road/CX Cat 1 and 2, MTB Cat 1/Expert and anyone else who chooses to race at this level. USAC Road/CX Cat 3 and 4, MTB Cat 2/Sport and anyone who chooses to race at this level. USAC Road 5, CX 4, MTB Cat 3/Beginner. New racers or those trying cyclocross for the first time.

CYCLOCROSS RACING AGE: A riders racing age for the 2012-13 Cyclocross Season is the 'racing age' theyll be the year of the CX World Championships which take place February 23, 2013. Your racing age for the entire cyclocross season running September 2012 through January 2013 is your age as of 12/31/2013. RESULTS: Race results will be posted near the awards area immediately following each race. Please make sure to check your results within the 15-minute posting/protest period or they will be final.
