HARVEST BAPTIST CHURCH PRAYER DIARY SUNDAY MORNING SERVICE TIMES 9:00 & 10:45A.M.

MONDAYEVANGELISTIC PRAYER Chronological Bible Reading: Genesis 16-18; Matthew 5:25-48 Monday, January 7 Song of Solomon 7:13 The mandrakes give a smell, and at our gates are all manner of pleasant fruits, new and old, which I have laid up for thee, O my beloved. O My Beloved, Jesus My Spouse: I want to give to you everything I produce. My heart has all manner of pleasant fruits, both new and old. They are laid up for you. I have new fruits. I want to feel new life in revival this New Year! I want to see new abundance from my witness. I want to beget new children of God. I want to have new joy and gratitude for all you have done. I want to make new decisions and carry them out in new faith in 2013. I have some old fruits, too. There is my first love (a very choice fruit). There is my first faith by which, though I am nothing and have nothing, I become possessor of all things. There is my first soul won for Christ. There is my joy when I first met the Lord. Let me revive it! Help me share it with __________ or __________, even today. I have my old remembrances of your promises. You have been faithful to me! When I am sick you make my bed soft. In deep waters you buoy me up. In the fiery furnace you walk with me. I have many old fruits because of many past mercies. My sins I regret, but then I have my repentances. I wept my way to the cross and saw the merits of your blood. I have fruits new and old, but here is the point of my prayer: they are all laid up for thee, Jesus! You are the solitary aim of my soul, and your glory the sole end of all my efforts (Col. 1:29). Jesus, you have watered the soil of my garden with your bloody sweat. I display your fruits when you are with me. My all is yours, and yours alone, My Beloved. Amen. A DAILY PATTERN FOR PRAYER & BIBLE READING Chronological Bible Reading: Genesis 25-27; Matthew 8 Thursday, January 10 Josh. 1:8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. TUESDAYFOCUS ON CHRISTS LIFE Chronological Bible Reading: Genesis 19-21; Matthew 6 Tuesday, January 8 John 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will show you things to come. Dear God and Gracious Father: So many times the truth of your word seems like a huge cave. I want to enter in, but I cannot explore it alone. The entrance is clear, bright and enticing, but if I want to go further in I need the assistance of a guide. I dont want to get lost in my study of the Bible. The Holy Spirit knows truth perfectly because he is its author. Thats why you gave him as my guide. Thank you Lord, for leading me into the truths of your word right when I am able to receive them. You never require my understanding of something that is still too high for me to reach and too mature for me to digest. Instead, you lead me from one inner chamber to another, so that I behold the deep things of God in due time, and receive secrets as I am both able to absorb them, apply them and explain them. What a treasure is available to the mind clothed with humility! I want to know the truth, and yet I am so conscious of my propensity to make an error. I rejoice today that the Holy Ghost abides in my heart and condescends to act as my personal tutor. I gladly accept his leadership, Lord. Help me learn all truth, so I wont be out of balance. Let me not become willingly ignorant, because I dont want to miss a blessing even as much as I dont want to step into a sin. Since you have given your Spirit as a faithful guide, help me become a more obedient follower by hearkening to his words. He has a still, small voice, but if I walk in the Spirit today I can follow your lead. Make it so for Jesus sake. Amen. FRIDAY CORPORATE PRAYER MINISTRY Chronological Bible Reading: Genesis 28-30; Matthew 9:1-19 Friday, January 11 Heb. 2:18 For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted. Eternally Able God: When we put together all we have ever asked for as a church, heap it high, and pile on top everything any one of us has ever thought of wantingyou are able to do even above! High as our pyramid of prayer might be, your ability to succor (help in a difficult situation) is higher still. You are able to deliver, and to deliver us. Father, help us recognize that. Give us faith to grip this, because then we will magnify and adore you as you are worthy. Sometimes prayer and fasting are prescribed as the way we get joined to greater power than we would otherwise possess. I know the church of God would be far stronger to wrestle with this ungodly age if we were more given to using these spiritual disciplines. But they take time, so we do not tarry. Prayer hooks us to heaven; fasting separates us from earth. Prayer takes us into the feast of God; fasting delivers our soul from being bloated with bread that perishes. When we give ourselves to the utmost possibilities of your ability, then we are enabled by your Spirit working in us to cast out devils in our community that would otherwise laugh us to scorn. Jesus, you are still alive! As simple as that truth is, we need reminded of it. Very often we estimate the power of our church by looking at our pastor and parishioners. It does not lie there, but in the Holy Spirit and an ever-able Savior. We have the power to work neither physical nor spiritual miracles. But you are able to work wonders, and you are still willing to work those in our midst. All hell confesses the majesty of your authority. You are the master of heart and conscience, so no case is too hard for you. Work, Oh Able One! Amen. WEDNESDAYREVIVAL PRAYING Chronological Bible Reading: Genesis 22-24; Matthew 7 Wednesday, January 9 Job 23:3 Oh that I knew where I might find him! that I might come even to his seat! My Father and My God: The worst of all losses is to lose your smile on my life. I see the ancient, original saints thought a great deal more about your favor, and praying for it, than we do today. Teach me how to behave myself in your presence as I pray. Even in normal times I do not want to come before you with an unprepared spirit. Help me actually meditate on your goodness, because that will give me the spirit of prayer. Bring me the assistance of the Holy Ghost to help me open my mouth for revival. Abraham is the pattern for claiming revival. In Genesis 22 he rose up early (there was his willingness), he went three days journey (there was his earnestness), he left his servants at the foot of Mt. Moriah (there was his privacy), he carried the wood and the fire with him (there was his preparation), and finally he built the alter, laid the wood out in order, and took up the knife (there was his devotion to worshipping you). He aimed his activity like an arrow. He knew you demanded obedience because he expected you to answer his prayer. WHAT ORDER SHOULD I OBSERVE IN PRAYING FOR REVIVAL? First, I have to feel like I am doing something real, with real effects. I am actually addressing God. I cannot see you, but you are really present. My senses cannot perceive you, yet you are really with me and hear me. Feeling in my spirit the reality of your presence, lead my mind by divine grace. Make me feel like Abraham did when he said, Gen. 18:27 Behold now, I have taken upon me to speak unto the Lord, which am but dust and ashes: Deliver me from perfunctory prayer and prompt me to seek revival. Amen. SATURDAYIN THE PSALMS Chronological Bible Reading: Genesis 31-33; Matthew 9:20-38 Saturday, January 12 Psa. 118:24 This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it. God on High: Psalm 118 was likely a song for Davids enthronement. That was the beginning of the best times for Israel, but nothing like the way Christs resurrection is a new day of fresh blessing for all who are part of the kingdom of God. Thank you for bringing me into the dawn of a new era this New Year. It is the day of redemption, starting with my soul and spirit now, and proceeding to creation and all things at your second coming. Having obtained so great salvation, having tasted the eternal mercy of God, it is not fitting to mourn and murmur. Help me exhibit a double-hand extension of joy! Let me rejoice in heart and be glad in face. Make me rejoice in secret so I can be happy in public, because I have more than double the reason to rejoice in the Lord this year! In looking back on the past I can remember many happy occasions. With a full heart and unspeakable joy I bless you, my Savior and King, because all those memorable times are just foretastes and pledges of the time to come when we will all sing, Rev. 5:12 Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing. Bring into my darkness the light that springs from the redeeming work of my Champion and Lord. I have received light. You have led me to enlist under the banner of the cross. The once despised Nazarene is now my Prince and King. Help me do better to magnify your mercy, because it is from you that my blessings come down. Amen.

ANOTHER year is dawning, dear Father, let it be In working or in waiting, another year with Thee. Another year of progress, another year of praise, Another year of proving Thy presence all the days.
Another year of mercies, of faithfulness and grace, Another year of gladness in the shining of Thy face; Another year of leaning upon Thy loving breast; Another year of trusting, of quiet, happy rest. Another year of service, of witness for Thy love, Another year of training for holier work above. Another year is dawning, dear Father, let it be On earth, or else in Heaven, another year for Thee. GIVE GOD THE FIRST PART OF EVERY DAY. The first commitment is to a daily quiet time with God. Our weekly Prayer Diary provides a template for daily devotions. 2) TITHEWORK 1 Cor 16:2 Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come. GIVE GOD THE FIRST DIME OF EVERY DOLLARno questions asked. Ten percent is a miniscule amount in our affluent society, but it must come off the top in order to show that God is our priority. We want the blessing of the firstfruits (first devotion, first dime and first day) to flow out to the rest of our resources. 3) TEAMWORD Heb 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. GIVE GOD THE FIRST DAY OF EVERY WEEK. You should fellowship with a group of believers around the word of God every Sunday in our church.

Baptists tend to ridicule liturgical churches that use "prepared prayers" because they lack spontaneity. But for many Baptists, their prayers are so predictable they are no more spontaneous than written-out prayers. The result is we end up praying the same things over and over. This daily Prayer Diary will prompt you on a wide range of prayer requests you might not normally think of, while forcing you to articulate a deeper devotion to God. We have included a daily Bible reading schedule. This plan will take you through the Bible chronologically in a year. Do not read ahead and do not try to catch up. Use each day as it comes. Then you can know that on any given day, dozens of other people are lifting their hearts in the same mind to God. Pray what is written, but use what is prayed as a springboard for your own relationship with God. You learn to pray by praying. Alan

Secret prayer is the secret of prayer, the soul of prayer, the seal of prayer, the strength of prayer. If you do not pray alone you do not pray at all. Our Lord Jesus Christ would go nowhere till He had prayed. He would attempt nothing till He had prayed. Oh, says one, I live in the spirit of prayer, and therefore I do not need times and seasons for prayer. And do you think that Christ did not live in the spirit of prayer? Yet He had to have his special time and place to pray. Do not fall under the injurious notion that because your spirit cries to God in prayer all day long, therefore there must not be some season for more immediately coming into Gods presence. If you imagine this, I am afraid that it will prove a snare to your feet. The Lord Jesus Christ, who knew better than you do that the main thing is the spirit of prayer rather than the act of prayer, yet Himself retired into desert places to maintain the act and exercise of prayer. Be spiritual. Be baptized into the spirit of prayer. But do not be deceived by the enemy, who can steal a spirit away while we dream that we only spiritualize it. We had better preserve the very bones of prayerthe posture, the time, placerather than let it all ooze away into an impalpable mental condition. God keep us prayerful. He will do so if He makes us like His dear Son. Charles H. Spurgeon, 1834-92
