0.500 m Part 1: Finding the necessary horizontal velocity The first part of this problem is that you need to find the initial horizontal velocity of the ball as it runs off the end of the table. Later, we will use this as the final velocity of the ball as it rolls off the ramp.

Part 2: Finding the acceleration of the ball on the ramp In the second part of the problem, you will need to draw a force diagram for the ball, calculate the net force on the ball, and use this to find the acceleration of the ball while it is on the ramp. Note: even though the ball is rolling, we are going to treat the friction on the ball as kinetic friction. The kinetic friction coefficient is 0.233. The mass of the metal ball is 0.02817 kg.
Part 3: Finding how far up the ramp you should place the ball Now, using the initial horizontal velocity from Part 1 as your final velocity and using the acceleration found in Part 2, calculate how far up the ramp you should place the ball. Once you have finished this part (and checked your work), bring your test with your final answer to me and we will run a trial to see if your calculations are correct. Remember: the ramp is only 80 cm in length, so your answer must be between 0.800 m and 0.000 m.
