Design The Jointed Arm Packing Loader uses a cantilevered articulated arm which attaches to the side of the distance piece window via a height adjustable leadscrew assembly. A total of 5 articulation points ensure that the arm is adaptable for a wide variety of machines and mounting positions, and can manoeuvre around many obstructions. The only machine specific part is the mounting plate by which the loader is attached to the distance piece. The packing attaches to the far end of the arm via a pivoted bracket with dummy rod on to which the packing sits. The packing is secured in place by a retaining bracket. The Jointed Arm Packing Loader comprises of 2 main subassemblies the Leadscrew Drive assembly (~21Kg) and the Jointed Arm (~26Kg). The Jointed Arm can be further broken down in to individual links if required. The height adjustable bracket, by which the arm attaches to the distance piece, allows for any misalignment of the packing when being loaded into the stuffing box. This feature allows 30mm vertical adjustment either side of centre. The leadscrew is mounted on 2 angular contact ball bearings to ensure that the height can be freely adjusted using a standard socket and ratchet handle. Furthermore each articulated joint of the Jointed Arm uses a pair of angular contact ball bearing to minimize any sag and ensure that the joints move freely when under load. The nylon dummy rod sleeve is interchangeable for sleeves of different diameters to allow the Jointed Arm Packing Loader to be used for packing boxes of different sizes. The current design is capable of safely supporting packing boxes of up to 100Kg in weight.
Health and Safety With the ever increasing awareness of on-site health and safety, the manual handling of packing boxes is a major health and safety concern. The Hoerbiger Jointed Arm Packing Loader addresses this issue by ensuring that the load of the packing box is fully supported until the packing box is positioned on the flange studs inside the stuffing box. The service engineer is relieved of the full weight of the packing box and is able to easily manoeuvre the packing into the stuffing box recess. Once secured into the stuffing box recess the jointed arm can be safely and easily withdrawn.
Key Advantages One Packing Loader suits wide range of packing and machine sizes Load of packing box fully supported until located on flange studs Packing removal and insertion time and effort kept to a minimum
