Save the Children Ethiopia works in 9 regions in Ethiopia with a current staff complement of approximately 1,600 staff. The size of the programme and the amount of human, financial and material resources put into it as well as the requirements of different donors requires substantial amount of quality and efficient human resource. This makes Save the Children an exciting place to work Accordingly, Save the Children Ethiopia is looking to hire six creative individuals who have the experience and competencies to work as Senior Management Team (SMT) to contribute to leadership of the Ethiopia Country Office; support the development of an organisational culture that reflects dual mandate values. The SMT will help design and implement a coherent organizational structure that is consistent with agency practices and appropriate to program needs; help establish, maintain, and improve active and regular working relationships with host government authorities, partner agencies including humanitarian and development donors, and local and international NGOs; ensure Ethiopia Country Office complies with all Save the Children Management Operating Standards and Standard Operating Procedures and that all required support is provided promptly, at scale and in line with the rules and principles. JOB SUMMARY: The Project Manager will be responsible for the overall management and successful implementation of the Save the Children of PILLAR IV project. This will include managing the entire Projects required deliverables/outcomes, ensuring both technical and management requirements are met, including sub-grantees as required, and managing relevant government/stakeholder and donor liaison requirements.

The Project Manager is responsible for ensuring that key organisational principles and approaches, such as child participation, sound M&E systems, etc are well integrated throughout the project cycle; for ensuring that lessons derived through implementation of projects are well articulated, documented and disseminated both internally and externally; for engaging across departments and externally to ensure the work of the project supports overall advocacy objectives to realise greater change for children. Ensure the PILLAR IV project is delivered according to the contractual requirement of the donor, i.e. all activities and deliverables are completed within the agreed timescale and budget, reports are submitted as per the agreed schedule and formats and any other requirements or criteria are fulfilled as specified in signed agreements; and ensure the PILLAR IV project is fully understood and internalized by all project staff, senior managers and directors. As primary budget holder for this project, responsible for the overall management and revision of a realistic budget, ensuring proper authorization and monitoring expenditure in line with the budget and donor guidelines, Save the Children grant management and financial guidelines. This will include preparation of budget plan and, supervision of quarterly variance analysis reports on all budgets. The post holder will need to ensure all sub-budget holders are also fulfilling their budget holder responsibilities. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED Masters or first degree in a related field (Disaster Risk Reduction/Management, Agriculture, Livelihoods, Economics, Anthropology, Sociology, Natural Resources Management, Development Studies or Related Disciplines). Minimum eight years of experience in livelihood/development programming with international organizations, donors or government institutions. Technical expertise in value chains, watershed management or micro-finance. Experience managing ECHO funding and related requirements. Experience managing projects as either sub or lead agency. Experience in working with government counterparts and other partners at various levels - federal to district. Practical understanding of the challenges and opportunities in realising childrens rights, in relation to the thematic area. Proven conceptual skills and an ability to think and plan strategically Demonstrable experience in M&E Strong representation and networking skills with the ability to liaise well with a wide range of individuals from different backgrounds and cultures. Good advocacy, communication, presentation and facilitation skills Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to mentor staff Proven ability to manage a complex and demanding workload Excellent spoken and written English Good computer skills (particularly Excel, Word and databases) Willingness and ability to travel to all project areas in the Afar Region of Ethiopia, within approved security frameworks. Work experience in food insecure regions particularly in East Africa. Excellent understanding of the relevant thematic sector in Ethiopia at both field and policy levels. At least five years of working experience in pastoral areas of Ethiopia preferably in Afar.
