1. Preface : Updating the Region What is your Home Feeling ? Do you feel it in your living room? You need a garden to feel home? The street decides on your mood? Do you need a great park around the corner or even absolute silence within a 10 minutes walk onto a mountain? I am thinking about writing this preface while still with my coffee in bed because my son next to me is anyway busy trying to slay some monsters on my (his) pad. Actually I should get out because I have only 12 minutes battery left... pofff... The laptop shuts itself down and by the sound I know it forgot everything, even the year! I get myself up and go for the charger. This gets my son out of his concentration asking me to help with level 22 darkest monster in Swordigo. The first game we play together all the way to the end. Rebooting. Your computer is set to a date before January 2008 My computer at least feels reborn. I check the battery status: Condition : Replace Soon

2. Change Mindset All our lives we have been thinking society cant be changed over night. It is a long, slow, organic and Well, thats a new one. Probably a good sum up for this booklet. In order to keep on using the computer, and all it does for you, our regional system (battery) needs to be replaced soon. I feel home ran out of battery and recharging it wont do. We need a hardware update and some software plugins for your region to do the things you want it to do for you. Feel home. Not to worry about living, surviving. Thriving, getting the most of everything around you. Than what can I do, I am just a little silly father and husband without much status, so who would listen to me. I probably wouldnt. Would I want to work with me? I simply want to be able to look in my kids eyes and say the job I have lives up to the Indian story; I think my actions do not harm perspectives 6 generations after you. industrial process. We feel this very deep. When we were hunters; no animals around meant moving on. Farmers; exhausted land meant moving on. Industrials; no resources or expensive labor; move on. The information age gave us a new paradigm; hard disk full, plugin another one. Computer crashes, get a software or hardware update the same day. Change was slow in the agricultural and industrial age. What was invested needs to last for a long time, updates only nations could afford and exhaustion of resources... well, meant exhaustion of resources. We cannot afford ourselves to think in old slow paradigms. We have to think about our economy - and yes ecology as a computer with some hardware and software parts which can be replaced or updated almost over night. We have to think about home as how we would like the configuration ideally be for the tasks to be done, and see if we have enough resources to put the parts and OS together.

Because - unless we decide for bombing continents in order to rebuild - we ran out of space to move as hunters, farmers and industrials to.

We can however rethink some basics regionally, like we have a basic body functions needing food, air and energy to survive. What is the region looking at it as a body fighting for survival with a mind managing it all?

3. The region as a body with a mind. 4. Baseline Game Region This big talk is small talk. Everybody knows. I enjoy seeing the physical region as a boardgame fun to We know WHY ( sustain 9 billion people on one island ) We know WHAT ( sustainable inventions are present ) We only have to figure out HOW. This is in short this manifest is about. A proposal to start figuring out a better basic regional paradigm on HOW to organize/design/plan Home. Some people can think of a real life Simcity but this is not how reality works. We are more than mathematical calculations (I still assume). Reality is not supply and rule driven, it is subjective demand driven. We dont buy a car pure functional as we are not pure functional breeding machines getting babies and work done. Having this boardgame to play by people and partners in regions has another benefit; it enhances co-creation. It makes more complicated collaboratives manageable, possible. So we better think from the best options, the best potential, ambitions and opportunities to lay the ground for this boardgame. play from the age of 8-88 like any family table game. If we want to have a basic set of game mechanics and values for a regional boardgame, we need to focus on the basics of the basics. And the current basics of a region are simply to complicated AND are under a lot of durability stress for generations ahead.

5. My gamified son My son was born with the ipad touch in his crib. Call me a bad parent, but in the early days it was a great tool to play some Elmo videos with one hand, and feed him with the other. Spoons went in without any protest. When I got the first iPad (for work, I was shooting a film about the vision on education in 2020 of course), he took control over it. I downloaded all kinds off apps and basically today we are daily playing Swordigo (modern day Prince of Percia). The result is my son doesnt wake up saying he is hungry, but... Dad, how much battery do I have Besides this made me realize he should slow down on screen time, it also made me realize he will be bored pretty soon. His generation needs a serious update on the education and working life processes!

6. Win-win for long term investors How beautiful. The world NEEDS an update and our kids WANT an update. The dream of any long term investor. The challenge is not supply. We have it all, we know we want it all. The challenge is demand. It is an organization design challenge to update our computers and software. And imagine... This can be done overnight! We are not talking about a forrest which needs to be cut or a dessert which needs to be fertilized for a decade. We are also not talking about a factory which needs to be build, moved or replaced costing a zillion tax payers investment or jobs. We are talking about a hardware and software update of the basic functioning of a region with things we can put together tomorrow. Some regions understood this already. Yours?

7. Three regional processes resonating Resonance is a marvelous natural phenomenon. With love the biggest among all ways to feel it. I believe there is tremendous resonance globally at the moment because of the internet, in two generations nobody will have the feeling to slay each other. In business this has started. There is more healthy competition than ever. The fight for the most beautiful girl among us still prevails - and will if we look at much older global nature - but companies which the kill to eat the others food is (I hope) leaving our culture. - The regional economy is looking for a better baseline. - People in the region look for ways to better collaborate. - Our children are bored with our way of thinking. So we even have a win-win-win if we figure out HOW to tackle these issues energy/tax effective. This 3 resonate in my opinion, we simply have to figure out the settings the bits and atoms will.

8. Survival, Comfort & Luxury This manifest deals with the baseline. To eat, breath and breed. To survive as a species, 9 billion of us just fine. If 100.000 can in a 10 mile region, everybody can. Where the old hardware and software cannot deal with 9 billion heartbeats, a local update can. And just like governments and corporations dont loose focus when their servers are updated, so they wont when we think integrated on regional baseline services. It is even from a humanity - developed brain - viewpoint a great relief: the baseline is suffering in every country on the planet, its suffocating, taking the air away from the ambitious. What if simply a new computer and OS could have the promise embedded it runs basic services till 2050 with ease, as the memory capacity can handle the 9 billion brains? When living in Vienna, I had the pleasure of a great series of posters all around. This one sticks very well in the brain;

9. The baseline is green Lets cut history short; Gunpowder made us take over cultures, oil made us take over nature. We are running out of cheap natural sources and cheap manual forces. The result; No more making cheap, selling expensive, run society on profit-tax. The true goal is to rebuild society on a base which excludes poverty. Oscar Wilde. If survival is arranged, the ambitious can focus on the next luxury and the free-market economy will ensure the pursuit off comfort for all. Can we start with a basic board game to experience a better mental imagine of the region for in the future to act upon? Is this game the base for children to be interested in the real future unfolding in front of them? Surplus; Besides information technology and rare earth materials profit signs in our eyes we can simply reboot a regional system without losses. It can only get better. Scary? Yes and no. Yes, because we all have families to feed in a just in time global super market system. We want to safeguard current job positions.

No, because people born after 1920 dont know any better to backup a system in case it crashes. People born after 2005 dont even realize their system is being backed-up every night. So why not apply the same methodology to community systems? Lets backup, update, rewire and rewrite the code! Easy?

10. Developing from green to grey We are used to design our neighborhoods, cities from a blank canvas and in the end to have some green spots left. This all was possible because we could just 1) take resources from somewhere 2) have very cheap labor from somewhere 3) start each year conquer emerging markets somewhere. Somewhere, somewhere, somewhere no longer exists.

Yes! This new economic reality is a great opportunity. Our basic computer and operating system is green. Nature! We invented and automated everything we physically need, so how expensive can it be to rewire a physical region to feed, heat and house us? How many solar panels our robots need to put together? How many legostyle glasshouses a community of 30.000 people need to unfold? What other baseline transport, communication, care and continuity jobs we need to work and have a value rewarding system for? The fun part is everything we really need - food, clothing, artifacts, paper, energy, housing and mobility IS naturebased durable possible.

An opportunity to think NATURAL again. The way we were thinking before machines, slavery and war - but with all the green inventions and efficiencies we have today. The reality is we know everything will get relatively more expensive, we automated ourselves out of jobs and gas and electricity coming through the pipes in our home will become more expensive than organizing your own warmth and electricity.

11. Harvesting Energy Did you ever wonder where nature gets energy from? Solar. Motion. Chemistry. Our latest inventions; PV, micro-turbines and bio-energy are practically able to create enough energy to support living communities.

12. Seed Economy When the basic energy need for a living community is arranged, we can starting thinking about harvesting the natural seasons. In other words; what seeds do we put in the ground to eat, cloth, house, heat, treat and travel with. The word economy has roots in latin language and means

13. Keen on borders

we have the blueprint in numbers for a region to reboot the basic OS, one update at a time. However, reality is we are very keen on inherited property. In short : The land we divided, the walls we build are the base of financial economics. The financial housekeeping and so survival of every company, government, family, baby is relying on these paper contracts. And we should have this constant for continuity to a certain extend because we all have families to feed and bills to pay. Fear on the future, the inability of feeding your own children has turned us into semi-cannibals many times. To reboot ( REROOT, ROOT ) a region quite literal with harvesting energy and seeding the basics of the economy, we need to collaborate spatially. The motherboard is what it is, no bigger or smaller. For this we need to formulate an integral motivation, an integrated language and processes.

to logistical reasons, we manage logistics but are crashing because we have nowhere to expand to. We can only think about being more efficient with what we have. The businesses the most efficient will lead, add value for growth and jobs. As said before, we can think natural again. Like we mimic nature in business for great product and service results, so we should mimic nature for great regional and so quality of living results. Thinking natural is frankly quite simple; we understand nature, plants, animals, ecosystems, our body, our brain, every creature to the tiniest cell. With this knowledge we are able to think about a regional society as a green unity, with modern day civil valueshare-stake holders from the old and emerging new world. Regional governments came into existence to manage the agricultural revolution, national governments exist to manage the housekeeping of the industrial times and continental leadership to manage the (financial) information age. These 3 ages are the corner stones of life on the planet. To a certain extend we need big spatial housekeeping, but for a lot can be automated and so can be managed more energy friendly, regional, even personal. As we feel interconnected globally at home, so should we find the new innerconnected regional home feeling. Because the smart governments and smart businesses see there is an improved future to be harvested. The quickest, best organized will simply have the biggest piece of the new pie. To pursue the next luxury, it is a right, our brain needs this freedom to be healthy, to dream about and realize more. I just need to work harder. You like your region in 10 years?
