This page must be signed by all the members of the Project group for Acknowledgement. (See Example E.) 6. CONTENTS page [Expanded block capitals, 18pts, bold, TNR]. This should be placed immediately after Acknowledgement. See Example F. 7. ABSTRACT (1-page summary of your project work) [Number this page (i)]. The ABSTRACT page should be placed immediately after CONTENTS page. The ABSTRACT should include:

-1-

One or two introductory sentences that create interest and draws attention to the topic; The project definition and goals; The method of solution; The results; and, The conclusions. 8. List of figures and Tables: List of figures [Number this page (ii), (iii), etc.] List of tables [Number this page (iv), (v), etc.]
[On separate pages, after ABSTRACT page]

[This is student(s) contribution]

The list of figures and list of tables must be in tabular form giving details of Figure No, Title and Page No. 9. All chapters should begin with Introduction and end with Conclusions 10. Chapters Chapter 1 is the Introduction and Type this page as

Chapter 1 INTRODUCTION -(bold, caps, 16pts.)

Leave 1 space from top edge. (Number the pages as 1,2, this point onwards)

1.1 Introduction. It should include a brief about the scope of work. 1.2 Aim of the project. Define the objectives 1.3 Methodology. Technical approach to the problem 1.4 Significance of the Work. Importance and application areas 1.5 Organization of the Report. (Chapter wise) 1.6 Conclusion. A brief about the chapter 1.

-2-

Chapter 2 Type this as

Chapter 2 LITERATURE REVIEW (bold, caps, 16pts.)

Leave 1 space from top edge. Literature review related to the topic of work. Presentation of the problem, methodology used, and general outline on which the solution to the problem is arrived. Chapter 3, Chapter 4, . Actual work done by the candidate(s) emphasizing his/her/(their) contribution. For fabrication projects include detailed component drawings and PCB layout, if any For software projects give detailed algorithm and flow charts, followed by the code (program) with detailed comments., etc. The last chapter should be Results, Discussion, Applications, future scope and Conclusions. Organize the Report into Sections and Subsections. For example, number the Sections in Chapter 2, as 2.1, 2.2, etc. Number the Sub-sections as 2.1.1, 2.1.2, etc. Do not use more than three levels of number. For example, do not use (Sec.) 2.4.1.3. Each Chapter (with number) should be typed/begun 1 below the top edge, with the title, as shown above (for Chapter 1 etc.). Each section is to be in 14 pts, bold, caps; Sub-section in 14 pts, bold, with first letter capital as shown:

2.1 INTRODUCTION 2.1.1 Design Constraints of 1-phase Energy Meters (Ft. 14, bold, TNR)
Give captions to all figures and tables. The figure captions must appear below the figures and table captions must appear above the tables. For example, number the figures in Chapter 2, as Fig. 2.1, Fig. 2.2. Follow the same method for numbering tables as shown below. Table 1.1: ________ -31.1,2.3: Table no and Fig no.

Fig. 2.3: ________

respectively

There must be a reference to each of the figures and tables in the Report. For example, "Fig. 3.1 shows the organization of the software evolved."

11. References [form an important part of the Report] Number all the references For a book, give the name(s) of author(s), title of book, publisher, edition, and year of publication, chapter no., and page numbers. For example [1] A.Pramanik, Electromagnetism, Prentice Hall of India, I Ed., 2003, Ch.6, pp196-8 For a journal/conference paper, give the name(s) of authors, title of paper, name of journal/ conference, month and year of publication, volume and issue number (for journal), and page numbers. For example [6] Haus, H.A. and Melcher, J.R.: Electric and Magnetic Fields, Proc. IEEE, June 1971, Vol.59, No.6, pp887-894. For a web page on the Internet, give the author's name/company's name and the URL. Include the year. Each reference in the Report must be cited in the body of the Report in a chronological manner For example, in Chapter 2, you may say, "Algorithms for optimizing the chip area are described in [3] and [4]."

12. Appendices. Type appendices as:

APPENDIX A (16 pts, bold, Caps)

Magnetic Properties of MU-METAL (14 pts, bold) Number the Appendices A, B, etc. [ to be so referred to in the Report text ] Figures in appendices must be numbered as A.2, B.3, etc. 13. Other things to remember: Page setup, Font, Font size, spacing, etc. -4-

Use 1 spacing and 12-point Times New Roman font within the body of the Report. Leave 1 margin on the left hand side and 1" margin on the right hand side. Leave 1" top and 1" bottom margins. Use 16-point font for Chapter titles, and 14-point font for Section titles, and Subsection titles as specified above Use single spacing for references. This must be constantly followed throughout Before taking the final printout, check and see if all Section numbers, figure numbers, table numbers, and page numbers are consistent. Check if all figures and tables have been referenced and if all references have been cited. Run a spell check before taking the final printout. All page numbers must appear in middle of bottom margin, above the edge

14. Submission of Report Submit the draft copy of the Report to the Project Advisor before the specified deadline. Include the corrections/suggestions given by the Project Advisor before generating the final printout or copies. Submit the following copies: (1) One copy to your Faculty Advisor, (2) one copy to the Department library, (3) One copy to the central library and (4) one copy for each individual in the team. As an example, if there are three students in the team, the team should

submit a total of SIX copies, all of which Hard bound and identical

MOST IMPORTANT: Limit the total number of pages to 50-70; not exceeding 70 under any circumstance (Page numbers of the chapters only).
