ANALYSIS OF INVOLVED RESOURCES IN A DENIM PLANT.

Background & Present Problem

Denim is a rugged cotton twill textile fabric, in which the weft passes under two or more warp threads. This produces the familiar diagonal ribbing identifiable on the reverse of the fabric, which distinguishes denim from cotton duck. Denim has been in American usage since the late 18th century. The Denim Market was given preferred partner for sourcing of high quality fabrics and clothing from Bangladesh. In 1989 a company owned one factory in Hong Kon g, one in the Philippines and two joint venture factories in Bangladesh. That was just starter, from there Bangladesh now come in a better position in denim production. Now Bangladesh produces about 900,5000yrd of denim fabrics per year for local & export purpose. The denim production facilitates other backward linkage as yarn sector because denim use now different composition of cotton, lycra, polyester, spandex etc. fibres . So, denim production facilitates Bangladesh a lot in both backward & forward Linkage. But there are some resources required to establish a plant and a continuous flow of resources to maintain the whole production system of denim, such as natural resources, power, capital, logistics & infrastructure recourses. Its always hard to make balance between resources and production in a small and poor country like Bangladesh. This study will cover all these factors.

Objects with Specific Aim & Possible Outcome

The main objects of this Project are 1. To analysis the whole denim production system & find out the resources they use. 2. To find out the factors which hamper the production system. 3. To find out the different dimension of the denim plant. 4. To analysis of the denim resources according to the present problem & find out a solution. The possible outcome may be to find out a standard amount of resources required for a plant and solution to overcome the shortage of resources problem in the industry. It will help us a lot to know about the denim industry.

Outline of Methodology
The Project is based on the case-study of a selective denim plant from a selected zone of Bangladesh. It will give a prospective clear idea about the resource factors involved in denim production. It will work on several factors/variables which influence the denim production (e.g. land, capital, man power, power generation etc.). It will also give some prospective suggestions based on probability-analysis of different factors. The whole work is a combination of theoretical as well as investigational work on a denim plant & currently facing problems by the denim industry. Thank you, Sir.
