Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.

Ps. 116:15
There is nothing precious about death this side of heaven! Death is Josiah and Sarah Guay went home to pain and loss to us who are left behind. be with the Lord in a car accident this December, in Thailand, while serving BUT, the Lord is on the other side of as missionaries. death and for Him it is precious. You see, death means reunion to the Lord. He no longer has to love them from a distance, but can now embrace them and honor their faith in Him. He can now reveal to them what they had hoped in. They have beat us to the finish line.
Eccl 4:1-3 So I returned, and considered all the oppressions that are done under the sun: and behold the tears of such as were oppressed, and they had no comforter; and on the side of their oppressors there was power; but they had no comforter. Wherefore I praised the dead which are already dead more than the living which are yet alive. Yea, better is he than both they, which hath not yet been, who hath not seen the evil work that is done under the sun.

IN MEMORY OF:
BILLIE LUCILLE (COX) LYNCH BETHEL, born south of Mt. Zion Church in Cooke County Texas on March 20, 1928, promoted on to Glory, December 14 2012, and buried at Mt. Zion Cemetery, Sister to Lewis Cox & Cass Reasor. Brother, Cass Reasor MISS BESS McMURTRE, A godly woman Friend, Beth Hooker PAUL PEAVEY My Training Union Teacher At Miller Road Bapt. Church, Friend, Bethel Autry

This was Solomons conclusion as he looked at life. Why did he say the dead were better off than the living? Because their work is behind them. They have entered into their rewards. The living are still in the work force, where there is pain and suffering in order to get the work done. We who are alive and remain are those Satan wants to put his thumb on and rub out. We are still on front line duty. The pictures of Josiah and Sarah were taken just hours before their home going. Josiah loved music and loved playing the piano, but he had always had

(Continued on page 2)

to play on a keyboard. He had never gotten to sit down to a real piano until the day of the wedding. It was a highlight of his life to sit at that piano. It was a gift from God, hours before God would call him home. Just one week before the accident, Sarah told her father she was going to die and she was going to hell. Her father stopped what he was doing and led her to the Lord. The last week of her life she spent hugging everyone and enjoying her life. One of the sweetest things the Lord gave the family, because of the wedding, was some of the best and most recent pictures a person could have. While this is not the way a person would want to begin their honeymoon, the Lord used Matthew & Raht marriage to bring lasting memories to the parents, to encourage their hearts. The response of Gods children toward the Guay family has been overwhelming. It seems that God tapped all His children on the shoulder and said, Have you considered my servants, the Guays? All eyes turned to their lives and an outpouring of love began to flow. Gloria and I began to pray that the Lord would supply them the money to get a good automobile for their work and their family, to encourage their hearts in this time of pain. We were both hoping for $10,000. We began to get gifts through Tid Bits of Wisdom two days before the paper went out. As of today, Tid Bits of Wisdom readers have given over $1,600. We thank you so much for your hearts toward these people and their work. We talked with the Guays last night and at this time they have received $26,000. Glorias and my faith was very small. Never under estimate Gods heart toward His people. Money is not everything! The Guays asked that we pray that every time they look at the new car they will not think about the death of their children. We suggested they see it as the GRACE OF GOD during difficult times. This will remind them of the comforting God that was with them through it all. What are you going through today? Does it hurt? Are you hungry? Are you thirsty? Are you a stranger? Are you naked? Are you sick? Are you in prison? Matthew 25 tells us that when we, Gods children, are hurt, hungry, thirsty, a stranger, naked, sick or in prison, so is the LORD! Whatever we go through, the Lord goes through with us. Whenever someone ministers to our needs they minister to the Lord. Stay in prayer and God will send his servants at the right time. Richard and Kristi never mentioned coming home because of hard times. The children loved Thailand and it was only right for them to be buried there. We have not seen them question God at all about His reasons or purposes. Their questions lie in what does God want from us and how does God want us to go on from here. They have much to learn about loss and changes and they need encouragement from brothers and sisters in Christ. When we come to Christ and ask forgiveness of our sins, we have this good clean feeling, and sometimes we begin to think that if we do all things well, nothing will go wrong! Thats true when it comes to your relationship to Christ but Christ doesnt promise us there will be no troubles, as a matter of fact He tells

Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.

(Continued from page 1)

with Christ. We suffer from the sin and evil of the world we live in. While Christ is capable of stopping anything from harming us, He does not promise to stop all harm. He does promise to go with us through all harm. He does promise to deliver us from all evil. He does promise to fight our battles and because of those promises;

Phil 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
Again, Gloria and I would like to thank you for your gifts to this family at this time of their loss. Please keep them in your prayers.

A lady lost her handbag in the bustle of Christmas shopping. It was found by an honest little boy and returned to her. Looking in her purse, she commented, "Hmmm.... That's funny. When I lost my bag there was a $20 bill in it. Now there are twenty $1 bills." The boy quickly replied, "That's right, lady. The last time I found a lady's purse, she didn't have any change for a reward."

LOST HANDBAG

The Gift
Thanks for the electric guitar you gave me for Christmas," little Chris Cody said to his uncle the first time he saw him after the holidays. "It's the best present I ever got." "That's great," said his uncle. "Do you know how to play it?" "Oh, I don't play it," the little fellow said. "My mom gives me a dollar a day not to play it during the day and my dad gives me five dollars a week not to play it at night.

RESOLUTIONS OR NOT, THAT IS THE QUESTION!

I get amazed at the looks that come over faces when asked about resolutions for the year. Some are very quick to tell you they dont believe in making resolutions. Others have these long list of things they have resolved to accomplish, while others try to get away without answering the question. Why is this? Have you ever fallen flat on you face after having resolved to do something? Have you ever just put the resolution aside and forgotten about it? Or, have you ever tried and failed. Oh yes, the word resolution brings back many mixed memories. But is it right to make resolutions or not? A resolution is: a ruling; a decision; a solution; an answer; an analysis; a breakdown. It shows decisiveness and determination to accomplish. I dont know about you, but I have never made progress without making a commitment or a resolution to accomplish the task. A resolution is a commitment and that is why everyone runs from it. What we commit too, we are obligated to carry through. It is the giving of our word! The Lord has made resolutions or commitments to us. He has commited the gospel to us. Paul and Timothy and others spoke about keeping that which had been committed unto them. What about the gift of the Holy Spirit that has been given us to prosper by? Are we committed to do for Christ what He has done for us. Are we resolved to use that gift as God intended it to be used? Paul admonished Timothy to keep that which had been committed to him from God. It is never wrong to commit our lives to the work of the Lord. Our problem is that most of us want to make resolutions about us and what we want to accomplish and we never follow through. If we, from the heart, would totally give ourselves to the will and purposes of God, the things in our lives that are wrong would disappear on their own. We struggle with doing the right things daily because we dont have the right motive. We dont act to please God, we act to please self and we fail. Are you afraid to commit to God those things He is speaking to you about? Listen to Paul and it might encourage you.
2 Tim 1:11-14 Whereunto I am appointed a preacher, and an apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles. For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day. Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus. That good thing which was committed unto thee keep by the Holy Ghost which dwelleth in us.

I AM RESOLVED
I am resolved no longer to linger, Charmed by the worlds delight; Things that are higher, things that are nobler, These have allured my sight. I am resolved to go to the Savior, Leaving my sin and strife; He is the true One, He is the just One, He hath the words of life. I am resolved to follow the Savior, Faithful and true each day, Head what He sayeth, do what He willeth, He is the living way. I am resolved to enter the kingdom, Leaving the paths of sin; Friends may oppose me, foes may beset me, Still will I enter in. I am resolved, and who will go with me? Come, friends, without delay, Taught by the Bible, led by the Spirit, Well walk the heavnly way. I will hasten to Him, Hasten so glad and free. Jesus, greatest, highest, I will come to Thee. Would you join me this year in lingering no longer to go to the Savior and to follow wherever He leads? Lets make this a year of serving His kingdom, and not mans.

Here is an old hymn which Christians have sung for years. Read it and considered resolving to do these things this year. These resolutions can be kept.

F E M A L E INSPIRATIONS

By Gloria Brewster

WHY SHOULD WOMEN READ THEIR BIBLES AND MEDITATE ON GODS WORD?
Why should we as wives, mothers or single women spend our time in the Word of God? Sweetheart, we were created HELP MEETS. You cannot help someone else until you have helped yourself. You cannot impart life to others until you have found real life. If you are living in misery, you cant help someone find joy. If you live a wounded person, you are not a vessel to teach Gods healing. If you live in the flesh, you cannot expect to encourage those around you to live in the Spirit. Life is tough. Every day there is reason enough to despair, to throw in the towel, to think that it really doesnt matter how we respond today. Thats a lie! Can you hear Satan whispering in your ear? The only thing that will save us from these things is our faith and our knowledge of Gods Word. His Word reveals His heart and His will for our lives. His Word gives us promises that we can hold to in troubled times. Gods Word is the only thing that will keep us straight in crooked times. We find the person of wisdom in the scriptures. Wisdom is the principle thing and can only be found in the scriptures. Do you know who your worst enemy is? Who would you guess? You might be surprised to find out that it is YOU. You thought is was Satan, didnt you? Satan is here to tempt us, but it is us who makes the decisions. I could write a book on the things and the people who have been used in my life to attempt to get me to give up on living a life of faith. There have been many through my 68 years of life, but you see, they didnt have the power to bring my life down; they were only there to divert me away from my faith. The decision to continue walking by faith was mine! Should I live awhile longer, there will be other people and other things to pull against my faith. When I began to read my Bible through each year, I began with a very troubled and shaky life. Oh, I was saved and was sure of it, but I was not stable in a lot of areas of my life. I took pride in the fact that I loved people and most people I met felt like I loved them, but after getting to scripture I found I knew very little about godly love. Some of my love did good and some of my action, which I meant for love, did harm. True love works no ill to its neighbor! I needed scripture to learn how to love without doing harm. The more I learned and practiced love, the more discernment God gave me in my life and the lives of others. That gave me insights that began to take the crookedness out of my life. As others saw my life growing, they asked me to share with them what I was learning. This has led to a life time of counsel, which is the ministry God has given me. My husband will testify that for the last 40 years or more I have averaged right at 40 hours or more a week with one-on-one counseling with troubled lives. I have spent many hours and many dollars helping when called upon but have never

charged a penny for my time. This is a work of love and money would change the whole picture. What God has called me to do, money cannot be a part of. God has promised me, He will repay. Thats good enough for me. I hear womens cry daily. My heart and soul ache for them and I wish they could instantly know what I know about our God. If they knew the heart of God it would lift them up and sustain them through their troubles. All of our answers are within Gods Word. But if we dont know Gods Word, how will we trust in Gods Word. Many know just enough to be dangerous, but not enough to hope and hold on to. I declare to you today, that if you want to live this life victoriously and be an overcomer, then you had better get your head in your Bible and leave it there the rest of your life. What are our promises?
Rom 8:35-39 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,

(Continued on page 7)

I hope you will not mind me taking a space in the paper to share with you what goes on each month in order to get your paper to you. Jerry and I have already gone through the flu bug at our house. Just as Jerry was getting over the flu, I became sick with it. I lost four days out of that week. I was late getting the paper to the printers. I believe the Lord directed the timing so I could include the Guay family in the December paper. Just as I got the paper to the printer I became sick. When it was printed I did not have the strength to insert, fold and prepare the paper for the mail. In all these years there have been many people help me from time to time, but I had never missed a month working the paper. Jerry, who is wonderful at taking care of a sick wife, got a crew together and in record time they had it done, EXCEPT for the labels. I just cannot let someone else put the labels on, because I looked at each name and pray for them. So, the crew worked in the office, which is in our barn, and I labeled in the house, so they would not be exposed to me. The crew included, Renee Walters, Jerrys secretary, who has spent many hours working the paper with me, month after month. Then there was Jeri Lynn Wilkerson, whose husband is our assistant pastor and her three daughters, Joy (home from Crown College, Powell, TN), Grace and Hope. All our help are volunteers, but we do feed them a meal to keep them full and happy (notice the Sonic bag). They worked like a house on fire. I felt left out of the fun having to stay in the house. They decided to leave me notes in the papers and every so often I would find a new one. The notes they left are placed around the pictures. Tid Bits of Wisdom began six years ago. The December paper was the beginning of our seventh year. My husband had no desire to write (although he is very good at it). God put a desire in my heart many years ago to write. I do believe the best way to preserve what you have learned and been taught is to write it down so others can share it with you. I will never forget what a growth took place in my life when I began to read books. I was not a reader. I dont remember reading anything but the Bible in our house and I didnt read it on a regular basis. After beginning to read my Bible through every year someone told me about Corrie Ten Boon and I was so interested in her life that I bought her book, The Hiding Place The day I got it I sat up all night reading. In the book she talked about another book that stirred my interest and I ran to the store and before I knew it I had a library. I had never noticed how many times the Bible talks about books. Books are mentioned over

TID BITS OF WISDOM AT WORK

one hundred and ninety-nine times. God has many books and He would often tell men to write down what He has said to them. There is one record of a book that really stands out to me. That is Gods Book of Remembrance.
Mal 3:16-17 Then they that feared the Lord spake often one to another: and the Lord hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the Lord, and that thought upon his name. And they shall be mine, saith the Lord of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him.

Just think, the Lord is writing a book about those that fear Him. Is God writing a book about you? It just seems right to me for us to write books about Him. After all it is all about His work through us that makes life interesting. Those who know me well know that George Mullers book Life of Trust has been used in a very special way in my life. I seek to find the old copy which is very hard to find. Bro. Melton Ker recently found me a 1877 copy and sent it to me as a surprise. Bro. Darryl Smith found a different copy sometime ago. There is nothing kinder than friends who pay attention and care about your desires. Thank you for your prayers, thoughts and support. ---Gloria Brewster

TID BITS OF WISDOM MONTHLY REPORT

January, the beginning of a new year. We thank the Lord for another year, another month, another hour, another minute that He gives us to serve His kingdom here on earth. This is the earth He gave His life to redeem and you and I are servants who are left to proclaim His offer of eternal life to ALL who believe. Isnt it wonderful to be intrusted with this life? Gloria mentioned on page five that we have had the flu in December. Well, we have now have had the flu in January also. Two bouts with the flu have taken almost a month out of our lives, but once again we emerge and are headed to the top to breathe and live again. Thank the Lord for His uplifting hands. Tid Bits of Wisdom has received over $1,600 for the Guay family. What a show of love you readers had given this family. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Our monthly supporters are wonderful and faithful and we could not have produced this paper without them, but we would ask you to pray about faithfully supporting Tid Bits of Wisdom on a monthly basis. We believe our country is in great trouble and that many troubles are ahead of those who follow Christ. As our support increases, we can increase in attempting to serve Gods people in these days. Remember, send your gifts to Tid Bits of Wisdom, 1801 Old Hickory Trail, DeSoto, Texas 75115. All gifts are tax deductible. Our phone number is 214-293-5252. Thank you so much for sending us Tid Bits of Wisdom. I thoroughly enjoy the articles & keeping up with my special friends at Galilean Baptist Church. I wish you all werent so far away. Ive missed you in our Bible class this year. Thank you for sharing your time & wisdom with our class last year. May God bless us every one. Charlene L. ....I finished reading my Bible on 11-20-12. Just wanted to send you a love offering and wish I could do so much more. My daughter Ruth & David, her husband, are on the staff at Pensocola Christian College. Ruth had hip surgery and is facing knee surgery. My sister was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. She has been her husbands caretaker, since he was diagnosed with Parkinson. She is now on Hospice. My late husbands sister passed away in October and it seems my plate is full. I know the Lord has helped me these days and I am so thankful I know Him & His faithfulness to us each day. Please take care and know that I love you and your family. Dorothy C. (please pray for her family as they are going through the fire). ....Hope this finds you both well. We are well and the kids are really growing. We are planting potatoes now. The crop last year was pretty damaged from the bad hail storm we had. Your prayers for our crop this year are appreciated. My sister and family (missionaries) are coming home for a visit after four years on the field. Happy New Year, Jack & Sheila (Please pray for those who live from crops. We had great loss last year because of weather and lack of rain.) ....I dont know how I got on the mailing list for the paper, but Im grateful. I enjoy being able to read the paper since my surgery and see the lovely picture of Gloria. As a former high school journalist, I believe that yours is a worthy endeavor. I have tried to keep track of you over the years. We do go back a long time (in Glorias first ladies class in late 1960s). I was saved under the ministry of Bud Hunter at Miller Rd. Baptist Church where you taught. What made my salvation be a reality in my life was that my faith became hitched to the Word of God. I underwent a corneal transplant & cataract extraction & implant last May. I was born legally blind and attended school for the blind for 10 years. My right eye is now the better eye and for the first time in my life I can read with it. Please pray for me when I return to have the other eye implant put in this spring. Bethel A. (Miracles still happen!)

Hello Pastor & Mrs. Brewster, I would like to wish you and your family a Happy New Year. As always I enjoyed reading Volume 7 No. 1 - December 2012...from cover to cover. Tid Bits of Wisdom is just that...full of wisdom and filled with Gods Word. After I finished reading the paper I thought back to the time I met Mrs. Brewster at Mineral Heights Baptist Church here in Greenville, Texas. I saw an article in our Greenville Herald Banner inviting all women to the Saturday morning program with special guest Gloria Brewster. I had never heard of Gloria Brewster, but she was going to speak on Forgiveness...and I knew I had to be in attendance. I still share the scriptures you gave us, and your testimony with many. That has been several years ago, even before the first volume of Tid Bits of Wisdom was published. Mrs. Gloria told us at the end of the program, We are planning to start a Newsletter. If you would like to start receiving it, please put your name and address in this spiral notebook and when the paper is published I will begin mailing you a copy. You also told us, you couldnt tell exactly when it would be published..but you assured us you would mail copies to us. Mrs. Gloria, thank you for keeping your word...from Volume 1...I have continued receiving copies of the paper. I asked at one time if you would send it to my brother who was in prison at the time. You did that also... and he often told me how he was blessed by the paper. When he was released from prison he was a completely changed man. We were blessed to have him with us for 15 months and the Lord called him home on December 3, 2012 at the age of 49 ( a massive heart attack). As I stated above he was home only 15 months but the lives he touched during that short time was shown by the outpouring of love at his funeral. He drove a truck for a short time. He faithfully worked with the Salvation Army, Fish Ministries, First Baptist Church Ministries and Men of Valor. Wherever there was a need, he was willing to lend a helping hand. When he died, he was on his way to the Meals on Wheels Center to pick up meals that was to be delivered to 26 people. Thank you for being a part of the change in his live. Mr. & Mrs. Brewster, thank you for being servants of the most High God. ---Betty Brown, Greenville, Texas

LETTER FROM A TID BITS OF WISDOM READER

(Continued from page 4) WHY SHOULD WOMEN READ THEIR BIBLES AND MEDITATE ON GODS WORD?
Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Road Trip
One afternoon, this guy drives down a highway to visit a nearby lake and relax. On his way to the lake, a guy dressed from head to toe in red standing on the side of the highway gestures for him to stop. The guy rolls down the window and says, "How can I help you?" "I am the red jerk of the highway. You got something to eat?" With a smile on his face, the guy hands a sandwich to the guy in red and drives away. Not even five minutes later, he comes across another guy. This guy is dressed fully in yellow, standing on the side of the road and waving for him to stop. A bit irritated, our guy stops, cranks down the window, and says, "What can I do for you?" "I am the yellow jerk of the highway. You got something to drink?" Hardly managing to smile this time, he hands the guy a can of Coke and stomps on the pedal and takes off again. In order to make it to the lakeside before sunset, he decides to go faster and not to stop no matter what. To his frustration, he sees another guy on the side of the road, this one dressed in blue and signaling for him to stop. Reluctantly, our guy decides to stop one last time. He rolls down his window, and yells, "Let me guess. You're the blue jerk of the highway, and just what the heck do you wanna have?" "Driver's license and registration, please." Last month we published a crossword puzzel. We would like to know if you would enjoy a puzzle from time to time. Drop us a note. Address on monthly report and back of paper.

Whom is there to fear? Nothing can separate us from the love of Christ. But we can separate us from the blessings of Christ by the way we live. We are our worst enemy. Too often, our minds are fixed upon self, and if we continue to live for self, we will self destruct. The only way to get self out of the way is to insert Scripture into our minds and thoughts. You must be convinced that life is in Christ and not in you. When we pursue bitterness, unforgiveness, self pity, anger and wrath, life is all about us. When we pursue love, forgiveness, unity and charity, then life is all about Christ. What is your life all about? As much as we would love to blame something or someone else for our condition, who we are is all about us and our relationship with Christ. What we bear we may not be able to do a thing about, but who we are is ours to command. Because I love you, I tell you, READ YOUR BIBLE. ----Gloria Brewster

Dear Mrs. Brewster,

We were missionaries to Holland and Belgian with Maranatha Baptist Mission for many years. We are currently serving with Fundamental Baptist World Wide Mission in Memphis, TN. Our current ministry is a church planting home mission project in our home state of Alabama. Due to Travis health, we can no longer serve overseas. I dont know if you remember us, but we get your paper Tid Bits of Wisdom and do enjoy reading it. It is always a blessing. Recently, you have featured the Ten Commandments in a Bible Study and the Lord laid on my heart a resource that has been a blessing to our ministry and we wanted to share it with you. The idea is not original, but was told to us by our daughter who heard it from an evangelist in Tennessee where she lives. We took the idea and had our son, Jonathan, who is an artist, to put the pictures to the idea. As you look at the enclosed booklet, you will see that if a person can picture the number picture in their mind, then they will always be able to quote the Ten Commandments in order. Isnt this the least we can do as Christians when Muslims are learning to quote the whole Koran? Im very surprised at how many Christians only know a few of the commandments and no one has ever been able to quote them in order. I have challenged my family, Sunday Schools, and Bible Study groups to learn them and this little picture book works? I hope you can use it, too. ----Earlene Harris & art by Jonathan Harris (Please find the art work on the back page of the paper)

Our Computer Is Down

Our new office computer system was down as much as it was working. My co-worker Cathy decided to stay late one evening to catch up on the work that had accumulated. On her way home, a police officer stopped her for speeding. What a perfect end to an awful day!

she exclaimed. "Our computer is up, then down -- up, then down. I stay late to catch up, and now this!" The officer was unaffected by Cathy's griping, and he went to his car to prepare a citation. After what seemed an eternity, he returned with her license and registration. As he handed them to her, he smiled and said, "Our computer is down."
