Role Title: Assistant Headteacher L10-14 Full Time, Hours in line with Statutoryrequirements

Reporting line Headteacher Deputy Headteacher Assistant Headteacher:

Purpose of the role (job statement) To assist the Governors and Headteacher in creating, establishing and delivering a vision for the school to ensure that every child succeeds. To raise achievement, lead, develop and manage a high standard of provision for learners needs. To ensure that young people leave Stretford High School with the necessary skills and qualifications to be able to succeed. Specific responsibilities to be agreed with the successful candidate. Principal Responsibilities The person appointed, in addition to carrying out key duties particularly assigned by the Headteacher, alongside core standards expected of a professional teacher with QTS, shallAssist the Headteacher in managing the school or such part as it may be deemed by the Headteacher To assist in the strategic implementation of the aims and objectives of the school To undertake any professional duty of the Headteacher, which may be delegated by the Headteacher Be as visible and accessible as possible throughout the school day to provide encouragement and support for students learning and drive an ongoing focus on the schools distinctive ethos and high expectations. Ensure the health and safety of colleagues and young people To attend all Senior staff meetings as directed To maintain and develop the ethos and character of the school in accordance with the directions given by the Governors and subject to direction given by the Headteacher The postholder is entitled to a break of reasonable length in the course of each school day. Additional Specific Responsibilities Specific Responsibilities: To be agreed with postholder Quality Assurance of attainment: To be agreed with postholder Panels/Meetings/Groups: To be agreed with postholder Strategic Planning: Create a development plan which contributes positively to the achievement of the school improvement plan and which actively involves relevant professionals in its design and execution To liaise with Deputy Headteacher and Directors of Academic School in planning, executing, monitoring and reviewing priorities Be responsible for developing others Learner Development Ensure staff facilitate opportunities for learners to experience the range of possibilities for further study and vocation. Ensure that all staff are aware of and effectively address the needs of students at greatest risk of underachievement.

Resources: To be agreed with postholder Ensure that all learning spaces, classrooms and corridors related to academic schools are presented in an appropriate, tidy and safe manner, which celebrates progress and achievement Additional: Be a professional role model Contribute to a programme of engagement activities to promote learning in partnership schools and the wider community To play a full part in the school community, to support its distinctive mission and ethos, encourage and ensure staff and students follow this example Celebrate and reward progress and achievement of students and staff Indicative qualifications, knowledge, skills and experience E = essential, D= desirable

E: Will hold relevant first degree/equivalent with PGCE and QTS or education degree/equivalent with QTS. D: Masters degree/equivalent, Leading from Middle, Leadership pathways, Future Leaders. E: Will have evidence of skills in engaging, motivating and inspiring young people and adults to learn. E: Will have evidence of skills in learning, teaching, assessment methods in line with those set out in core standards expected of a professional teacher. E: Will have knowledge and experience of successfully leading a subject/department for young people aged 11-16, to GCSE/BTEC level. E: An outstanding teaching track record demonstrating significant learning impact. E: Will have evidence of personal commitment to and impact of developing self and fellow professionals. D: Will have a commitment to developing self and others. D: Will have experience of creating and delivering a vision, holding others accountable, leading an aspect of school work to shape a community, developing teaching and learning and raising standards of achievement.
