Candidates Frequently Asked Questions: What can I bring to the exam? Candidates can bring the following standard items: Pens and pencils Unmarked eraser Unmarked ruler Student ID card (required)
Open book examinations allow students to take in hard copy study notes and books. Electronic equipment such as mobile phones and personal computers is not allowed to be used during the exam. What if I am late to an exam? Candidates will not be given extra time if they are late to an exam. Candidates will not be allowed to enter the exam venue if they are more than 30 minutes late to an exam. What is considered an exam clash? Two examinations scheduled for a candidate on the same day and at the same time. In such case please contact your programme coordinator.
Candidates are also reminded of the following rules governing the conduct of examinations:
1. Candidates are responsible for noting correctly the times and places of their examinations. 2. Candidates are responsible for bringing their Student ID to each examination for display on their desk. 3. Without the special permission of the Invigilators no candidate may enter the examination room more than half-an-hour after the examination has begun, or leave it until half-an-hour of the examination period has elapsed. 4. No candidate may leave their desk during the last thirty minutes of any examination period without the special permission of the Invigilators. At the end of the examination, candidates should remain seated at their desks until the Invigilators have collected all the answer books. 5. All personal effects such as, bags, laptops etc., which are brought into the examination room, must be left at the front of the examination room and can only be collected at the end of the examination. 6. All mobile telephones should be switched off during the examination and placed in your bags. 7. Answers to questions should be written legibly in ink. 8. Candidates may not pass off the work of another as their own or quote the work of others without acknowledgement. Such action will be liable to academic penalty and may also be liable to severe disciplinary action. 9. Open book examinations allow students to bring text books and lecturers notes and hand-outs to
examinations. 10. NO SHARING OF TEXT BOOKS and NOTES IS ALLOWED, 11. Students are given an additional 15 minutes for reading of the question paper at the beginning of the examination. 12. Candidates are NOT permitted to write during reading time. 13. Not all exams will have reading time. 14. Candidates are forbidden to communicate with anyone except the Invigilator during the examination. 15. Pocket calculators can be used.
