The MD/PhD Program
C andidates will take their MD training at Robert Wood Johnson
Medical School and the PhD training at one of the three
collaborating institutions: RWJMS, Rutgers University, and Princeton
University. Participation in graduate programs in areas other than
the biological sciences may be arranged on an individual basis.
The usual program will provide three years of graduate studies
as follows:
■ Year I: Medical Year 1
■ Year II: Medical Year 2: USMLE Part I
■ Year III: Graduate Year 1
■ Year IV: Graduate Year 2
■ Year V: Graduate Year 3
■ Year VI: Medical Year 3
■ Year VII: Medical Year 4: USMLE Part II

During years III-V, students also take the following courses:
Seminar in Molecular Medicine (1 credit), Introduction to
Molecular Medicine (3 credits), and tutorials designed to ease
the transition into the clinical years of medical school.

Financial Program
S tudents accepted to the MD/PhD Program will
receive tuition payment for all years in addition to a
competitive stipend.

2. Simultaneously apply for admission to UMDNJ-Robert
Wood Johnson Medical School through the American
Medical College Application Service (AMCAS).
