PPL Foreclosure Prevention Repair Grants Eligibility Information


This program is designed to help prevent foreclosure by funding an important repair for homeowners who would not otherwise be able to afford the repair. It is available to homeowners in Minneapolis and St. Paul who are currently paying a mortgage and meet the eligibility criteria below. Grants of up to $7,500 will be awarded for one distinct repair, based on need and following recommendation from a PPL Financial Coach

Eligibility Criteria
1. Total household income must be at or below 80% of the area median income as defined by Minnesota Housings income standards for the Twin Cities Metro Area as defined below: Household Size 1 Person 2 Persons 3 Persons 4 Persons 5 Persons 6 Persons 7 Persons 8 Persons Income Limit $47,200 $53,867 $60,533 $67,200 $72,267 $77,600 $83,467 $88,800

2. The monthly housing costs of the household must equal 40% or more of the total household monthly income. Eligible housing costs include: mortgage payments, property taxes and homeowners insurance (if not included in the mortgage payments), and electric, gas, heat, and water bills. Telephone, cable, and internet bills are not eligible housing costs. 3. The cost of the repair must total more than the total household monthly income.

4. Total household income must be sufficient to maintain housing costs after the repair is completed. 5. The home must be in an eligible NSP2 census tract in Minneapolis or St. Paul. See the attached maps for qualifying census tracts.
