WARRANTY A. Provide 10 years warranty from date of substantial completion signed by the Applicator and the Contractor. Warranty: Furnish written warranty certifying that the applied soil treatment will prevent infestation of subterranean termites, and that if subterranean termite activity is discovered during the warranty period, the contractor will re-treat the soil and repair or replace such damage. Include coverage for damage and repairs to building and building contents caused by termites.

PART 02 PRODUCTS 2.01 MATERIALS A. General: Use an emulsifying, concentrated termiticide that dilutes with water, specially formulated to prevent termite infestation. Fuel oil shall not be permitted as a diluent. Provide a solution consisting of one of following chemical elements. Available Products: Subject to compliance with local regulations and requirements, products that may be incorporated in the Work include, but are not limited to, the following: 1. Chloropyrifos: Dursban TC, Dow Chemical Co. or approved and equal under Project Manufacturers List. Permathrin Dragnet FT, FMC Corp. or approved and equal under Project Manufacturers List. B. C. Contractor shall have all required safety equipment necessary for chemical treatment on the site prior to mixing of chemical treatment. Areas ready to receive treatment shall be graded and have all soil compaction testing (if required) completed prior to mixing of chemical treatment.
2.03
DESCRIPTION
PRODUCT HANDLING A. Protection and Storage 1. 2. Handle chemicals in such a manner as to avoid contamination of the site. Store and protect chemicals for termite treatment as follows: a. Construct on the site, a shaded, lockable temporary holding area for storage of the chemicals and any equipment to be used in their mixing and application. Remove this facility when work is completed. b. Place warning signs on the chemical storage area warning workers that poisonous materials are stored within. c. Do not store any materials within this storage area which are not directly used in the chemical treatment process. d. The foreman for the chemical treatment subcontractor and the Contractor's safety officer shall be the only individuals authorized to have access to the chemical storage area. B. C. Labeling: All chemicals used shall be identified with individual labels securely attached to each container. Shipment and Delivery: All chemical concentrates shall be delivered to the job site in sealed drums or sealed cans.

PART 03 EXECUTIONS 3.01 A. EXAMINATION Verify site conditions, remove foreign matter that could decrease treatment effectiveness on areas to be treated. Loosen, rake, and level soil to be treated, except previously compacted areas under slabs, foundations and road pavement foundation. Apply toxicants before placing compacted fill under slabs if recommended by toxicant manufacturer and before placing of road pavement layer works. Verify that soil surfaces are unfrozen, sufficiently dry to absorb toxicant, and ready to receive treatment.

Verify final grading is complete. APPLICATION A. Spray apply toxicant in accordance with manufacturer's instructions. Application Rates: Subject to local regulations and requirements, apply soil treatment solution as follows: 1. Under slab-on-grade structures and foundations, treat soil before concrete slabs are placed, using the following application rates: a. Apply 5.1 L of chemical solution per meter to soil in critical areas under slab, including entire inside perimeter of foundation walls, along both sides of interior partition walls, around plumbing pipes, electric conduit penetrating slab and around interior column footers. Apply 4.1 L of chemical solution per sq. m as an overall treatment under slab and attached slab areas where fill is soil or unwashed gravel. Apply 6.1 L of chemical solution per m2 to areas where fill is washed gravel or other coarse absorbent material. Apply 5.1 L of chemical solution per meter of trench for each 300 mm of depth from grade to footing, along outside edge of building. Dig a trench 150 to 200 mm wide along outside of foundation to a depth of not less than 300 mm. Punch holes to top of footing at not more than 300 mm on center and apply chemical solution. Mix chemical solution with the soil as it is being placed in the trench.

Under basement structure, treat soil along exterior and interior walls of foundations with shallow footings as specified above for exterior of slab-on-grade structures. At grade beams, or at hollow masonry foundations treat voids at rate of 2.6 L per meter, poured directly into the hollow spaces. At expansion joints, control joints, and grade areas where slabs will be penetrated, use solution at a rate of 5 L per meter. Under road pavement layers, treat top of fill before the sub base and base courses are placed using a power sprayer as directed by the Companys Representative.

a. Apply the chemical solution at the rate recommended by the manufacturer to the top of the fill layer for the full width of the roadway including shoulder and pavement areas. Where termite nests are located within the road reserve, they shall be removed and burnt. The excavation shall be treated with the recommended chemical solution as directed by the manufacturer before the excavation is backfilled with the specified material and compacted to the required density as specified for the road subgrade.

Apply toxicant at locations indicated in Schedule at end of Section. Apply extra treatment to structure penetration surfaces such as pipe or ducts, and soil penetrations such as grounding rods or posts. Post signs in areas of application to warn workers that soil termiticide treatment has been applied. Remove signs after areas are covered by other construction. Re-treat disturbed treated soil with same toxicant as originally done. If inspection or testing identifies the presence of termites, re-treat soil and re-test. Avoid spillage, especially of concentrates, and do not contaminate wells and water sources, etc. Contractor shall decontaminate any spillage of concentrates with a "Clorox"-type product or other material as recommended by the manufacturer. Contractor shall also use absorbent material, which can be used to remove the spillage to a dumpsite.

PROTECTION OF FINISHED WORK Vapor barrier is to be placed over the treated soil immediately following treatment. There is to be a minimum of disturbance of the soil after treatment, since undue disturbance could compromise the integrity of the chemical barrier.
