DEATH TASTING SOUL

From a poor devotee at the threshold Trying with all herculean efforts in vain To reach the powerful Goddess Showering the blessings from high altar...

Holding you forever in my eyes, Skulking around like your shadow, Weaving all your thoughts in my mind My love is still like a day-dream.

The nearer I come, the farther you flow away Like a mirage on a deserted desert... Can you ever quench the thirst of This poor soul in deep love?

You stroll like a dancing doll with soft breeze Cool like a rose-water fountain... Can you douse my body On wild fire of desire?

I wilt away of torture of waiting, Vanishing like a dewdrop in the sun... Will you tear off the mask of Endless wait for your merciful glance?

My heart broken by poignant agony Just holds the half-dead life... Can you stop the half-mad mind From dancing on the thorny bed?

The sorrows continue to deepen Inflicting insomnia on my already dull brain... Will you rest your petal-feet on my hands And soothe out all my pains till my last breath?

The disappearing sun may spring back to life The dark horizon may see the daybreak again Will your embrace bloom my life back After the soul discarding my body-shell?

Like a flower embracing a fire With the remains of all thoughts and cravings In the frozen mind weighed down by numbness The soul is longing to taste the death.
