Janma Kundali - Vedic Astrology Software

If viewed in a java enabled browser, this applet (online java application software) allows you to generate a vedic astrology chart, both North-Indian and South Indian styles of janma kundali (janma kundli) from your time of birth, date of birth and place of birth. It also generates a view of information about positions of planets in the birth chart, the position of ascendant, nakshatras, and vimshottari dasha. It also allows you to calculate and display a whole lot of Divisional Charts, or varga charts. The current list of vargas this software displayes is : Navamsha, dashamsha, vimshamsha, shodashamsha, ashtamsha, saptamsha and shahstamsha. It is a simple software, but it displays all the relevant information about a janma kundali, namely, the positions of planets, divisional chart positions, nakshatras, Vimshottari dasha etc., and of course it is free. If you are an astrologer yourself and are here to generate horoscopes for your own reading, you might want to note that the ayanamsha used in kundli calculations is Lahiri's Ayanamsha. The value of ayanamsha correction is displayed along with the kundli.

Birth Chart (Janam Kundli)

A birth chart has 12 houses. Only the representation differs between North Indian and South Indian versions of janam kundli. Otherwise, everything is absolutely the same. In any representation, the first house of a birth chart is known as Ascendant - the rising sign. This sign and its ruling planet are the most important influences in a person's horoscope. The other houses counted clockwise, (in the south Indian representation) and in counter clockwise direction (in the north Indian representation), denote childhood and family life, siblings, emotions, children, adversaries and partners, deepest emotions and desires, luck, profession, sources of money and losses. The positions of the ruling planets of each of the houses in the janam kundli is extremely important in making sense of a horoscope.
