When we read the parables that Jesus related to the people of His age, its easy to imagine the

Master Storyteller pointing to a farmer sowing seeds in the nearby hills, or to fishermen throwing out their nets into Lake Tiberias. And it makes me wonder, if Jesus were walking among us today, what kind of parables would He tell? What physical images would He use to help us understand spiritual concepts? Perhaps some of them would go like the following: Por las lecturas del Evangelio podemos ver cmo Jess se identificaba con las personas de su poca, es fcil imaginar al Maestro Relator dirigindose al agricultor que cultiva los campos de las colinas cercanas, o a los pescadores que lanzan sus redes en el lago Tiberiades. Si Jess anduviera entre nosotros hoy en da, me pregunto qu tipo de parbolas relatara. Qu imgenes utilizara para explicar los conceptos espirituales? Algunas podran ser las siguientes:

The parable of the mobile phone The kingdom of heaven is like two men who took their mobile phones with them everywhere they went. One of them was wise and the other one was foolish. The foolish man did not recharge his phone, so when an important message came in, no ring was heard. Because the caller could not get through, he stopped calling and an important business deal was lost. The wise man always made sure his phone was fully charged when he left the house. So, when the caller called, he heard the ring and the vital business deal was made. Great was that mans reward because of his faithfulness to recharge his phone.

La parbola del telfono celular

El reino de los cielos es como dos hombres que portaban sus celulares donde quiera que fueran. Uno de ellos era sabio y el otro necio. El necio no recargaba su telfono, por lo tanto cuando le llegaba un mensaje importante, su telfono no repicaba. Debido a que quien llamaba no lograba comunicarse, ste dejaba de llamar y se perda la oportunidad de cerrar un trato importante. El hombre sabio al salir de casa siempre se aseguraba de que su celular tuviera plena carga. De esa forma al entrar la llamada pudo escuchar el tono del timbre y se pudo realizar tan importante negocio. Grande fue la recompensa de este hombre por su fidelidad en tener su telfono recargado.

Cuando una computadora no est debidamente protegida de los riesgos de la Internet, puede infectarse con un virus, trojano o gusano. Los creadores de los virus continuamente intensifican sus ataques y con frecuencia los ocultan tras atractivas imgenes o programas interesantes. Si uno no tiene cuidado y no se mantiene alerta, los virus pueden terminar por infectar su computadora. De la misma forma, el Diablo anda siempre tratando de destruir la comunicacin entre ustedes y Yo y los dems, y de derribar sus defensas con el fin de inutilizarlos.

In order to keep yourself free from his attacks, you should upgrade your spiritual defenses. Just as a wise man frequently updates his virus scanner, so can you ask Me for current methods to fight the Enemy of your soul who tries to find ways to infect you without you realizing it.

Para mantenerse libre de dichos ataques, deben mejorar sus defensas espirituales. De la misma manera que el hombre sabio con frecuencia actualiza su escner contra los virus, pueden pedirme que les indique mtodos ms modernos de combatir al enemigo de su alma que busca formas de infectarlos sin que lo noten.

Every believer that receives instructions about the kingdom of God is like a computer with a wireless connection that can send and receive messages through space. Because it has been programmed to the correct configuration, it can transmit and receive a great flow of information by invisible waves. And although the computer only has a little power in itself, because it is firmly connected to the main source of information, it can accomplish much and run smoothly. When glitches occur or when the connection is broken, pick up the phone and call the Technician. Hell quickly to correct the problem and the messages will flow freely once more.
La parbola del Wi-Fi Todo creyente que recibe instrucciones acerca del reino de Dios es como un computador con conexin inalmbrica que puede enviar y recibir mensajes en el espacio. Debido a que ha sido programado con la configuracin precisa, puede transmitir y recibir un gran flujo de informacin a travs de las ondas invisibles. Aunque el computador posee poca potencia en s mismo, debido a que est firmemente conectado a la fuente principal de informacin, puede lograr mucho y funcionar sin problemas. Cuando surjan fallos tcnicos o se rompa la conexin, tomen el telfono y llamen al Tcnico. l acudir rpidamente para corregir el problema de forma que los mensajes vuelvan a fluir con facilidad.

The parable of the cross-country rally

The kingdom of heaven is like a car racing team made up of many members. Some are the mechanics, some make up the support team, and some are the drivers, yet all work together to keep the car in peak performance for the race. Even though the race car is custom built to endure the long journey through rugged terrain, it needs to stop to change its tires, transmission fluid, oil, and fill up on gas.
La parbola del rally a campo traviesa El reino de los cielos es como un equipo de un auto de carreras compuesto por varios miembros. Algunos son mecnicos, otros son personal de apoyo y otros pilotos. No obstante, todos trabajan en unidad para que el auto se desempee durante la carrera a un nivel ptimo. Aunque el blido ha sido construido a medida para que aguante las duras travesas por terrenos escarpados, requiere de paradas para cambiar los neumticos, el lquido de la transmisin, el aceite, y para cargar combustible.

Though its gears strain to hug the road up and down steep hills, and though the driver may take a wrong turn and get lost, there is still a chance for him to find the right road again. If he follows the GPS that the Leader of the rally gave him, and runs with perseverance the race marked out for him, he has a chance to reach the finish line and win the great prize that awaits him and his team. The Leader of the rally will then say, Well done! Enter into the winners bay and have a blast! Im not joking when I tell you that in that day there will be a victory celebration so glorious, it will never be forgotten. Aunque las marchas sirven para que el auto se adhiera a la carretera cuando recorre pronunciadas colinas, y pese a que el piloto puede equivocarse en una curva y terminar perdido, siempre tiene la oportunidad de volver a la ruta correcta. Si se gua por el GPS que le entregara el Lder del rally y corre con perseverancia la carrera que tiene por delante, puede alcanzar la meta y ganar el gran trofeo que le esperan a l y a su equipo. El Lder del rally entonces le dir: Bien hecho! Entra al podio de los ganadores y gzalo al mximo! Les hablo en serio cuando les digo que cuando llegue el da, la celebracin de la victoria ser tan gloriosa que jams se olvidar.

Algn da volvers a tener acceso a ella, despus de que pases por el tnel de luz y te sea abierto el libro de tu vida. Cuando llegue ese da, te juzgar por todo lo que hayas hecho en tu vida, lo cual estar registrado en el libro de la vida. Por lo tanto, toma conciencia de lo que haces y dices, puesto que cada pulsacin quedar registrada y guardada en tu disco duro. Para asegurarte de que tu informacin no te avergence, vive por aquello que es eterno.

There are a number of things that can be used in a parableeven modern appliances and new technology can relate timeless truths. All we need to do is to take the time to be aware that Jesus still speaks and stop to listen to the stories that He would like to tell us.

Se pueden utilizar muchsimos elementos en una parbola; incluso aparatos modernos y tecnologa de punta que sirvan para ilustrar verdades infinitas. Todo lo que se requiere es tomar conciencia del hecho de que Jess an nos habla, y detenernos a escuchar los relatos que a l le gustara contarnos.
