For Others to Follow
Faster, safer, lighter, stronger, efcient, some of the concepts that Liebherrs knowledgeable workforce in-
corporates in every aspect of the design, manufacturing and support of the T 282 B Ultra Class mining truck.
As a result, customers are able to haul more for less.

With a history of innovation and setting new standards, Liebherr and its T 282 B Ultra Class truck reassures
its commitment to the mining industry by providing long-life equipment with low maintenance requirements.
The fuel efcient T 282 B with its high horsepower diesel engine, low empty vehicle weight and efcient AC
drive system demonstrates our dedication to manufacture reliable, quality equipment for the mining industry.

Low Operating Cost
Hauling more for less - a Liebherr trademark to achieve maximum protability. Pro-
viding the industry with strong & durable, yet lighter equipment with less mainte-
nance requirements. Liebherr allows for higher output at a lower operating cost.

Less Fuel Consumption

The AC drive system, coupled with an alternator powered by a high horsepower
engine, allows for continuous acceleration and retard performance without having
to shift gears, increasing fuel efciency.
By incorporating an efcient load management and low EVW concept on its
design, the Liebherr T 282 B requires less operating hours than its competitors in
order to achieve the same level of production, reducing fuel consumption. Addi-
tionally associated costs such as tires, labor, spare parts, oils, lubricants and
regular service intervals are minimized.

Low Empty Vehicle Weight (EVW)

The AC drive system weighs less than other DC drive systems and mechanical
drives, since it requires the use of less heavy components, reducing the EVW.
The T 282 B innovative Stress Flow design requires lighter steel structures and
castings, in order to handle the same forces, allowing for a lighter and stronger
frame.

Differential Wheel Torque Control

When traveling through a curve, the drive system
will automatically adjust the torque and speed of the
rear traction motors in order to maximize traction and
minimize tire wear during low speed handling.

logistics to ensure prompt response to any parts needs:
Continuous two years forecasting
24/7 on-call service
Inventory planning and management
Global and real-time inventory data tracking system

Component Rebuild Program

Condition-based monitoring maximizes major component life while avoiding
premature failures.
Rebuilds are conducted by certied repair shops, using best practice guidance
that incorporates recommendations from original equipment manufacturers,
ensuring rebuilt component life and reliability match new component perfor-
mance expectations.

Product Upgrade Programs

The operating life of the Liebherr truck can be extended and optimized by
upgrading virtually any system or component on the truck as advances in tech-
nology, innovation in design and improvements in manufacturing techniques are
realized.

Forecasting Tool
Major component service life estimates are continually
updated based on algorithm analysis of component
hours at time of replacement. These estimates provide
accurate forecasting lives, ensuring major component
spares are available when needed. Adequate inventories
of spare parts are stocked, to accommodate both truck
maintenance schedules and component rebuild projects.

Productivity
Engineered to be strong, durable and light weight, the T 282 B allows for a higher
payload to empty vehicle weight ratio, which results in faster acceleration. This
results in faster cycle times and increased productivity, which combined with low
operating costs, maximizes customers protability.

AC Drive Performance
The Liebherr T 282 B combines a high horsepower diesel engine with an extremely
efcient AC drive system to maximize productivity and reduce downtime.
Main components:
1. Diesel engine
2. Alternator and rectier
3. Control box with integrated main blower
4. Traction motors and planetary gears
5. Grid box mounted on the deck

Productivity
Low Maintenance Requirements
The AC alternator and traction motors are virtually maintenance free, since their
rotors are the only moving parts. The modular drive system is controlled via elec-
tronic solid state controllers, which are small, extremely fast and have no moving
components to wear out.
Three communication ports for information sent and received from:
Engine Control System
Drive System
Payload System
Load boxing, to test-check the electric travel drive system at full capacity of
the diesel engine, allows for a convenient diagnostic.

Operator Comfort & Performance

Real time digital and analog information is displayed, on an LCD monitor
including:
Vital machine information
Secondary information and alarms
Fault event messages
Six-way adjustable air suspended driver seat with double lumbar support
as well as a full size trainer seat.
Spacious interior with plenty of storage space for operator convenience.

Insulated against sounds, vibration and dust, resulting in a lower dB(A) rating.

Heavy duty heater and air conditioner to maintain a pleasant environment for
the operator.

Front Suspension
The T 282 B features a Double A-Frame front suspension. This unique geometry
allows the tire contact point to move up and down in a straight line during travel
and loading, thus reducing tire scrub.
Immediate & accurate payload monitoring is achieved due to the elimination of side
loading on the struts.
Due to the A-Frames lever action design, there is longer vertical wheel travel than
strut travel, resulting in reduced tire deection and lower operating cost.

Operator Cab
Featuring integrated ROPS (Roll Over Protective Struc-
ture) and a fully insulated double shell construction, the
operator cabin of the Liebherr T 282 B is ergonomically
designed to allow excellent visibility of the working
environment as well as maximizing operator comfort
and safety.
Visibility is further enhanced with the aid of mirrors and
optional cameras to assist the operator in safely oper-
ating the truck when in close proximity to people and
other equipment.

Safety
Liebherr is committed to providing a safe, healthy and ergonomic working environ-
ment for the operator. By improving equipment efciency and incorporating main-
tenance friendly features on its design the Liebherr T 282 B is capable of achieving
production goals in less time, reducing emissions and striving for green safe solu-
tions for the mining industry.

Personnel
Real time information during operation can be displayed for the operator
or be remotely sent to a centralized management system.
Snap shots taken during fault events are easily retrievable.
Cruise control and speed over speed:
Cruise control - Two modes are available; retard only cruise and full cruise.
Two speed over speed - Automatically limits the truck speed to the preset limit.
