Call Forwarding to an Operator (CFO)

1 Denition
With the feature Call Forwarding to an Operator (CFO) a subscriber can automatically forward incoming call requests to an operator. The operator can, for instance, tell the calling subscriber why the call has been forwarded or give the caller a number under which the desired subscriber can currently be reached. The subscriber can choose between two feature variants: Call Forwarding Unconditional to an Operator Call Forwarding to an Operator on No Reply In the case of the feature variant Call Forwarding to an Operator on No Reply the forwarding subscriber can still accept the incoming call during a predefined period of time.

Interactions For interaction with other features, see Feature Interactions.

2 Mode of operation
When the feature Call Forwarding to an Operator (CFO) is activated for a subscriber, incoming call requests are not switched through to the forwarding subscriber but forwarded directly to an operator. The subscriber wishing to have calls forwarded has a choice between two feature variants: Call Forwarding Unconditional to an Operator This feature allows an authorized subscriber to have incoming calls forwarded immediately to an operator. Incoming calls are forwarded regardless of whether the called subscriber is currently telephoning or not. Call Forwarding to an Operator on No Reply This feature allows an authorized subscriber to have incoming calls forwarded to an operator after a predefined period of time. If the subscriber accepts the call within this delay period, forwarding does not take place. The default value is 15 seconds.

In the network node, both feature variants can be installed at the same time. However, a subscriber can only use one of the two feature variants at any given time. The previous feature is automatically deactivated. The feature variants have no influence on the subscribers outgoing calls. The forwarding subscriber hears a special dial tone when one of the feature variants is active. The feature can be activated and deactivated by the operator or by the subscriber using subscriber controlled input. The subscriber can check from his or her telephone whether one of the feature variants is active for his or her line. The feature is assigned to ISDN subscribers on a service-specific basis and is only suitable for voice services. The maximum number of calls that can be forwarded simultaneously per access varies as follows: Analog In this case it corresponds to the number of lines of an access, i.e. for a single line only one call can be forwarded. In the case of a PBX line it depends on the number of bothway and outgoing lines. ISDN In this case it corresponds to the number of B channels of an access, i.e. for a basic access two calls can be forwarded and for a primary rate access 30. The number of instances of call forwarding that can be performed successively is determined by the operator for each network node. Up to ten calls can be forwarded consecutively. Additional feature options In connection with the feature there are additional options that can be assigned to the forwarding subscriber: Indication of forwarding The forwarded subscriber can be sent an indication that his or her call is being forwarded. This indication can be with or without the directory number of the operator to whom the call is being forwarded. Indication of active feature The forwarding subscriber can receive an indication whenever he or she makes an outgoing call that call forwarding has been activated for his or her line. This option can only be assigned for basic accesses, not for PBXs. Display of the forwarded number at an operator The operator to whom the call was forwarded can receive an indication of the number of the forwarding subscriber or, in the case of multiple call forwarding, the number of the rst forwarding subscriber and the last forwarding subscriber. Display of the forwarded number at the B1 subscriber The forwarding subscriber (B1) can receive a display specifying the directory number of the calling subscriber and indicating for which of his or her numbers the call is being forwarded.

3 Subscriber controlled input

The feature can be administrated by subscriber controlled input. For the subscriber procedure, see: Analog subscriber ISDN subscriber GeoCENTREX Analog subscriber ISDN subscriber Subscriber controlled input functions Signaling method Analog Pulse Activate Deactivate Enter data Delete data Enter data and activate Delete data and deactivate Activate with/without data Feature use Status request Data request Status request with/without data Access code The access code for subscriber controlled input consists of a maximum of 6 characters or, for GeoCENTREX subscribers, a maximum of 5 characters. It can be formed from the symbols 5 , # and the service code (SC) with the digits 0 ... 9. The operator can specify the character strings for the access code. Differences by pulse dialing The selected digits are not obligatory; other digits can be input (depending on the existing numbering plan). 1111 at the beginning of an input in place of 5 1112 at the beginning of an input in place of # 1113 at the beginning of an input in place of 5 # 5 as a disconnecting signal after the service code is not relevant # after the subscriber controlled input is not relevant X X DTMF X X ISDN Keypad X X Funct.

4 Call charge registration

Call forwarding to an operator can be set by the operator as chargeable or charge-free for the calling subscriber, depending on the reason for call forwarding. Call charge registration is possible with: Automatic Message Accounting with Individual Call Charge Registration Pulse Metering Message Detail Recording (MDR) for GeoCENTREX Flat rate Automatic Message Accounting with Individual Call Charge Registration (AMA) and Pulse Metering can be combined. One or more call charge pulses can be generated for Pulse Metering. Charges for feature input and feature usage The charges for operator inputs, successful subscriber controlled input and feature usage are assigned to the subscriber. The following call charge registration is possible: Facility input by operator (FAIO) Facility input by subscriber (FAIS) Facility usage (FAU) Action Activate Deactivate Enter data Delete data Assign authorization Remove authorization Assign authorization to modify Remove authorization to modify Status request, data request Use Call charges for connections Call charges for connections are assigned as follows: the calling subscriber pays the charges for the connection up to the called subscriber the forwarding subscriber pays the charges for the connection up to the forwarded number destination FAIO X X ----X X --------FAIS X X ------------X --FAU ------------------X
