MATERIALS 531-134 Lion Brand Chenille Yarn: Terracotta 3 Balls (A) 531-203 Lion Brand Chenille Yarn: Brick 1 Ball (B) Lion Brand Crochet Hook - Size H-8 (5 mm) Lion Brand Split Ring Stitch Markers Large-Eye Blunt Needles (Set of 6) Additional Materials Small amount of white felt Small amount of black yarn Fiberfill stuffing

GAUGE: Exact gauge is not essential to this project. STITCH EXPLANATION: sc2tog (sc 2 sts together) Insert hook into st and draw up a loop. Insert hook into next st and draw up a loop. Yarn over, draw through all 3 loops on hook - 1 st decreased. NOTES: 1. A small hook is used to ensure that stuffing will not show through the stitches. 2. Body and Head are worked separately, then folded and seamed. 3. Legs, Tail, and Ears are worked in the rnd, then sewed to pillow. 4. Mane is worked separately and sewed to Lion. 5. To change color, work last st of old color to last yarn over. Yarn over with new color and draw through all loops to complete the st. Fasten off old color.

BODY With A, ch 29. Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across - 28 sts at the end of this row. Rows 2-38: Ch 1, turn, sc in each st across. Fasten off. HEAD With A, ch 17. Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across - 16 sts at the end of this row. Rows 2 and 3: Ch 1, turn, sc in first st, 2 sc in next st, sc in each st across to last 2 sts, 2 sc in next st, sc in last

st - 20 sts at the end of Row 3. Rows 4-9: Ch 1, turn, sc in each st across. Rows 10-12: Ch 1, turn, sc in first st, (sc2tog) twice, sc in each st across to last 5 sts, (sc2tog) twice, sc in last st - 8 sts at the end of Row 12. Row 13: Ch 1, turn, sc in first st, sc2tog, sc in next 2 sts, sc2tog, sc in last st - 6 sts. Row 14: Ch 1, turn, sc in first st, (sc2tog) twice, sc in last st - 4 sts. Fasten off. EARS (make 2) With A, ch 2. Rnd 1: Work 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Place marker in first st for beg of rnd; move marker up as each rnd is completed. Rnd 2: Work 2 sc in each st around - 12 sts. Rnd 3: *2 sc in next st, sc in next st; rep from * around - 18 sts. Fasten off. LEGS (make 4) With A, ch 2. Rnd 1: Work 5 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Place marker in first st for beg of rnd; move marker up as each rnd is completed. Rnd 2: Work 2 sc in each st around - 10 sts. Rnd 3: Sc in each st around. Rep Rnd 3 until piece measures about 7 in. (18 cm) from beg, stuffing lightly as you work. Fasten off, leaving a long yarn tail. TAIL With A, and leaving a long beg yarn tail, ch 2. Rnd 1: Work 5 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Place marker in first st for beg of rnd; move marker up as each rnd is completed. Rnd 2: Sc in each st around. Rep Rnd 2 until piece measures about 11 in. (28 cm) from beg, Change to B. Next Rnd: With B, rep Rnd 2. Next Rnd: Sc in first st, *ch 10, sl st in 10th ch from hook (loop made), sc in next st of previous rnd, ch 15, sl st in 15th ch from hook (loop made), sc in next st of previous rnd; rep from * once more, ch 10, sl st in 10th ch from hook; join with sl st in first sc - 5 loops at the end of this rnd. Fasten off. MANE With B, and leaving a long beg yarn tail, ch 42 (foundation ch). Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, *(ch 20, sl st in 20th ch from hook (loop made), sc in next ch of foundation ch) twice, ch 15, sl st in 15th ch from hook (loop made), sc in next ch of foundation ch, ch 10, sl st in 10th ch from hook (loop made), sc in next ch of foundation ch; rep from * across - 40 loops at the end of this row. Fasten off. FINISHING Fold Body in half, bringing first and last rows tog. Working through both thicknesses, join yarn with sc at edge of fold and sc evenly around to join open edges. Before completely closing, stuff Body. Fasten off. Fold Head in half, bringing side edges tog. Working through both thicknesses, join yarn with sc at one end of fold, sc evenly around outside edge, stuffing Head as you go. Fasten off. Note: Narrower end of Head piece forms the neck. Sew Head to Body, flattening back edge of neck and edge of Body as you sew to ensure that Head is firmly attached. Fold Ears in half to form semi-circles and sew to Head. Using long yarn tail, sew Mane around neck, wrapping around neck several times to create layers. Using long yarn tails, sew Tail and Legs to Body. For eyes, cut 2 small circles (about the size of a dime) from white felt. With black yarn, sew eyes to face with a French knot. Weave in ends.
