Do you and your companion animal want to visit people in need? Take this opportunity to learn how! Pet Partner are human-animal teams who visit people in schools, hospitals, nursing homes, adult day care centers and rehab centers. Pet Partner teams are highly trained and have passed stringent evaluations that show they possess the appropriate skills and aptitude to do AAA/T and work well together in visiting animal programs. ATTENTION: Animals must be on leash or in carrier at all times. In order to be evaluated, you must have owned the animal for at least 6 months and the animal must be at least 1 yr. old, bathed & groomed no more than 24 hours before evaluation and current rabies certificate is required at time of evaluation. Handlers must dress appropriately and animals must be wearing appropriate collar/halter and leash. We require that if this your first time to have an evaluation you have attended the Pet Partners 101/102 hands on training course or online course. We retain the right to refuse evaluations if these requirements are not met. SPACE IS LIMITED

Animals Helping People in Need

The Pet Partners program is a service of the Delta Society, a non -profit organization dedicated to improving human health through service and therapy animals. Through Pet Partners, Delta Society trains volunteers, healthcare professionals, veterinarians, and a nationwide network of licensed instructors and animal evaluators to train and screen animals and handlers for volunteer service. Pet Partners are person-animal teams who have been specially trained and evaluated to work in visiting animal programs.

Register Today You will be scheduled for your evaluation time once you check has been received. We will do everything we can to accommodate you on time. Space is limited.

How can you become a registered Pet Partner?

Step One: PT 101/102 Pet Partners Team Training This course can be through a workshop or through the On-Line-Trainng provided by Pet Partners. Go to www.petpartners.org to sign up. Side note : To move to the next step of the evaluation most people find it helps to attend an obedience course with their dog. This not only helps to create a stronger bond between the handler and dog but any bad habit either you or the dog may have can be corrected before the evaluation and will make your evaluation much more successful.

Step Two: Pet Partners Team Evaluation

These evaluations show you and your pets skill and aptitude to work as a Pet Partner team. Together, you and your animal will follow a series of basic obedience skills (sit, down, stay, come, etc.) and simulated therapy sessions to assess your teams aptitude for different visiting situations. An appropriate team demonstrates reliability, controlability and predictability, works well together and inspires confidence in the people with whom they visit.
