ADESILEXP10+ISOLASTIC
Highperformancewhitecementiciousadhesivewithnoverticalslipandextendedopentimeforglass,ceramicand marble mosaic tiles, complying to ISO 13007 class C2TE when mixed with ISOLASTIC, a latex additive to impart elasticitytocementbasedadhesiveswhichcomplytoISO13007classC2ES1

1.0 Surfacepreparation
1.1 Surfacestobetiledshallbesound,clean,andfreefromdustorothercontaminantssuchascementlaitance, formreleaseagent,curingcompoundpaintoranyotherdeleteriousmaterialthatcouldimpairadhesion. 1.2 Inthecaseofmoisturesensitivestone,themaximummoisturecontentofthesubstrateshallnotexceed2% whenmeasuredbyCarbideHygrometer 1.3 HighlyabsorbentsubstrateandgypsumboardsmustbepretreatedwithPRIMERG,dilutedwithwaterata ratioof1:1or1:2toensurethoroughpenetration.

2.0 Mixing
2.1 Premeasure4.5litresofcleancoolwaterwith4.5litresofISOLASTICper25kgofADESILEXP10,andpour intoasuitablysizedcontainer. 2.2 Slowlyaddtheentirepowdercomponenttothecontainerwhilemixingandcontinuefor4minutes,ensuring toscrapethesidesofthecontainer,inordertoobtainahomogenous,creamyandlumpfreepaste. 2.3 ADESILEXP10shallbemixedusingaheavydutyslowspeeddrillatalowspeed(300500RPM)fittedwitha suitablemortarmixingpaddle. 2.4 Leavethe mixedmaterial for 5minutes afterwhich, remix fora further one minute. The adhesive is then readyforuse. 2.5 Partmixingisnotrecommended.

3.0 Application
3.1 Selectanappropriatenotchedtrowel,basedonthesizeofthetiletobeinstalled. 3.2 Using the smooth side of the notched trowel, apply a layer of adhesive on the substrate and work the adhesivevigorouslyintothesubstrate. 3.3 Usingthenotchedsideofthetrowel,immediatelyapplyanotherlayerofadhesiveontothesubstrate. 3.4 UsingthestraightedgeofthetrowelApplyathinlayerofadhesiveontothebackofthetileusingtheBack buttering technique. Where required for leveling purposes, a higher build of the adhesive can be applied usinganotchedtrowel,tothebackofthetiles. 3.5 Place the tile onto the fresh layer of adhesive with a twisting motion while the mortar is still wet and workableandfullyembeditusingarubbermallet,bygentlytappingthetileintoplace. 3.6 Periodically, check to ensure that full adhesive coverage has been achieved by carefully and immediately removingtileandvisiblycheckingthatthebackofthetileiscompletelycoveredinadhesive.Iffullcoverage hasbeenachievedrefixthetilecarefullyasabove. 3.7 Ifanyvoidsarenoticedusingthecheckingtechniqueoutlinedin3.6,applyfurtheradhesivetothelocalized areasinordertoachievefullcoverageandreplacethetilesasnotedabove. 3.8 Remove any excess material protruding into the tile joints, in order to ensure the proper depth of the subsequentgroutingofthejoint.

3.9 Theareashouldbecompletelyprotectedfrompedestriantrafficoranyotherdisturbancesforaperiodof24 hours(at23oC.)

4.0 Grouting
4.1 WallJointsbetweenthetilescanbegroutedafter48hours,Floorjointscanbegroutedafter24hours.

5.0 Storage/precautions
In temperatures greater than 35C, it is suggested to adopt one or more of the following precautions where possible,inordertoimprovetheworkabilityandopentimeoftheproduct: 5.1 Keepstoredmaterialandmixingequipmentoutofdirectsunlight. 5.2 Store the adhesives in a temperature controlled environment (maximum 25C) for a period of at least 48 hourspriortouse. 5.3 Avoidapplicationduringthehottesttimeofthedayand/ordirectsunlight. 5.4 Prior to mixing, place the water in cooler boxes and/or ice, in order to prolong the pot life of the mixed material. 5.5 Fullpacksonlyshouldbemixed.Mixonlysufficientmaterialthatcanbeappliedusingavailablelabourand equipment.

Approvalandvariations

This method statement is offered as a standard proposal for the application of ADESILEX P10, ISOLASTIC. It remains the responsibility of the Engineer to determine the suitability of this method statement to specific site conditions. Any proposed deviations or variations to the above method statements shall be submitted to IBS Mapei for approval, in writing, prior to commencementofanywork.
