2.0 DESCRIPTION WinPlot is a stand-alone utility to allow plotting on a Gerber plotter from Windows programs such as AutoCad and Corel Draw, which can generate HPGL, DXF, and DWG output. In addition, WinPlot can process Gerber plot data and cut data files. WinPlot supports HPGL plot files that conform to the 7475 HP plotter requirements.

3.0 CHANGES SINCE LAST RELEASE The following change requests and enhancements have been implemented since the last release. 8.1.2 Release May 30, 2005 Added the file extension ".gen" to the plot file extension options in Winplot. Now, when browsing for generic plot files, it is possible to filter out the .gen files in addition to the .ggt files. It is now possible to plot HPGL marker data from Investronica. Previously, when importing HPGL marker files in Winplot, it did not plot from AccuMark and View Plot displayed an empty screen. This has been resolved. Added a Configuration button link to WinPlot Config in WinPlot's interface. The WinPlot Configuration now allows for a gen or ggt extension on the General tab. If the computer has the 7.6 WinPlot also loaded, then the winplot.cpl file in Windows32 folder needs to be renamed to be able to see this change. Restored the registry entries and settings necessary to allow users to plot files directly from AMExplorer folders. Also corrected problems with folder names that had spaces. These settings were inadvertently left out when 8.x.x was started. Wplotter was enhanced to detect the error condition reported in the plotter queue. Previously, wplotter was unaware of the error and would continue to send data without flushing its queues, once wplotter was brought back online. Now, when an Infinity communication error is known, the plotter queue will display the status Offline. Once wplotter has signaled an error, the user should use the Infinity interface to query the plotter as to the specific error that was generated. WinPlot will no longer call any invalid plot file a HPGL file in the error message. The drop down list box has been enlarged for the location of the plotters on the Remote Plotter tab of the WinPlot Configuration screen. The drop down window for plotter selection has been enlarged on the WinPlot screen and WinPlot configuration screen. Added the message "Gerber Generic Files can't be scaled" when users want to plot a scaled generic plot file by WinPlot. Generic Plot file cannot be scaled plotted by WinPlot. 5/16/2005

The Winplot spooler configuration setting for the designated queue will now remain set and display properly.

Release 8.1.0 September 30, 2004 DWG files plot more consistently now. Corrected problems with Winplot and missing lines in the output of DWG piece geometry. Previously, some curved lines in DWG files output unsmooth and sometimes broken lines when plots were output by WinPlot. In old version, Annotation was missing when plot .DRW File from winplot. This is now fixed on V8.1.0 Specific HPGL plot data was causing the system to stop responding when imported. This problem has been resolved. Corrected the sequencing of plot files based on the order they are selected for Winplot. Previously, the plot queue did not display the plot files in the order that they were selected. In previous version, WinPlot did not give the plot file a name if it was generated with no extension, and being saved as a DOS file. This problem is now fixed.

Release 8.0.5. December 8, 2003 Added support for the Zund plotter series: APC-L800 (Zund-L800) and APC-XL800 (Zund-XL800) Corrected blank paper advance problems on the Infinity plotters. Release 8.0.3, September, 2003 Only the version number has changed Release 8.0.2, May 29, 2003 Corrected problems with ISO-Lectra files (Cut data). Previously a message appeared about an unsupported code before adding it to the queue. Viewplot did not display the file and there were negative values in Drawing Extents. Fixed cut file conversion problem with header other then H1. Previously, Winplot cut data failed to convert if the Header was anything but H1.

Release 8.0.1, March 24, 2003 Corrected problems related to G71 codes (Metric 5.1 cut data format). Previously, unsupported code messages would display when submitting jobs to the queue, View Plot did not display the file and there were negative values in the Drawing Extents. Corrected plot queue issues when the combination of Stop Immediate and Restart Queue are used.

Release 8.0.0, February 12, 2003 Implemented new security for support of AccuMark Professional 8.0 Restart Queue function was changed to Start Queue A page advance is now inserted before restarting an active job. Active jobs remain in active status, even when queue is stopped.

Release 3.1.1, October 10, 2002 Piece plot on AP plotters with stacking on will plot to completion. Previously, there were instances when the plotter would stop after plotting 3 pages. Corrected Winplot to preserve drill holes in HPGL and DXF data.

Release 3.1.0, May 15, 2002 Winplot added support for the following features: Increased maximum plot length to be greater than 128 inches for HP plotters using the HP Windows device driver. Added user-definable character height setting for cut file label data. Added an HPGL Tool Mapping Dialog Box to give users the option to select pen or knife as the tool for SP commands. Corrected Media Setting changes in Plot Queues with Infinity plotters. Corrected the S-Code annotation in cut files to rotate properly in plot output.

Release 3.0.1, December 7, 2001 The plotter driver program, wplotter.exe, has been enhanced for the Infinity family of plotters to provide better control of the queue. To take advantage of these features, the following firmware upgrades will also be required for the plotter; for the Infinity, version 1.5.2 and above, for the Infinity Plus, version 3.1.2 and above, and for the Infinity II, version 5.2.2 and above. Features include Plot jobs now remain in the queue until the plotter has completed the plot and the print head is returned to the parking station. Wplotter can now recognize when the cancel key is pressed at the plotter and thereby deletes the current job in the queue. The plot length, number and name are sent to the plotter at the beginning of each job. This information can be used to display plot progress on the Infinity II LCD panel. Stacked pieces will be removed from the queue as they finish plotting. The restart-active function has been corrected.

Winplot has added support for plotting label information in cut files. Cut files processed by Winplot will automatically output the label information by reading the (S and M31 codes). The piece sequence number will also be output to the plotter. It may be turned off in the Winplot Configuration dialog box by checking Suppress Piece Numbers.

Release 3.0.0, October 2001 A bug existed in previous releases, that when processing very large files, too many vectors could get put into a single piece within the generic plot file. A fix has been implemented which limits the number of vectors to 6500 at which point a new piece is started. In previous versions, if Winplot was installed on a Windows 2000 system after AccuMark, a configuration error message would get reported after re-booting. This was due to a change in configuration file location differences between Windows 95/98/NT and Windows 2000. This problem has been corrected.

Release 2.2.2, May 11, 2001 A bug was introduced in version 2.2.1 that resulted in Piece plots and cut files to be displayed incorrectly in the PlotView utility. This problem has been corrected.

Release 2.2.1, April 11, 2001 Version 2.1.0 would process some dwg files incorrectly resulting in one or more vectors incorrectly placed. This has been corrected. In previous versions, there was no way to specify a plotter when submitting jobs via the spooler. By default, they would always go to the local plotter. A plot destination field has been added to the spooler tab in the Winplot Control Panel. In previous versions, the name of the spooler folder could not have spaces. Spaces are now permissible. In previous versions, some systems with the spooler enabled would behave very sluggish and at times the plotter icon in the system tray would never appear after starting wplotter.exe. This problem has been corrected. The spooler function has been enhanced to process files in the order of creation time. A menu choice has been added to the plotter icon menu for the Infinity Interface if the Infinity plotter is selected. To bring up the Infinity Interface, right click on the plotter icon, and select Infinity Interface. Support for line widths greater than a single pen width has been added for dxf/dwg files. This is accomplished by sending multiple lines spaced about the center line. The number and spacing of the lines is controlled by the pen width parameter in the control panel-general tab. This value is expressed in plotter units, which is mils x 10. Support for processing of Gerber cut files has been added. Enhancements have been made to the Viewplot utility that allow viewing dimensions of the plot. Features include, point to point measurement, overall plot dimensions and the option to select imperial or metric units. Metric CM is used as the default.

Release 2.1.1, December 7, 2000 Support for Infinity II has been added to allow communications to the plotter via a network connection. Changes were made to both the wplotter.exe driver as well as the Gerber Devices Control Panel. In previous versions of wplotter, occasionally, the PG command would not get sent to the Infinity plotter between plot jobs. This resulted in the second job getting clipped in the Y direction if it was wider than the first. This problem has been corrected. In previous versions of wplotter, occasionally, the IW command would not be sent to the Infinity plotter at the start of a plot. This resulted in approximately the first 5 inches to be plotted correctly followed by a large gap of white space. This problem has been corrected.

Release 2.1.0, September 8, 2000 In previous versions, a single scale factor was applied to the entire drawing. For this version, independent scaling for X and Y as well as text has been added. Network plotting in a client/server environment has been fixed. For more information on configuration, refer to the Winplot help under Configuration/Network plotting. A history button has been added to the main Winplot dialog box that opens up a history dialog that is now easier to view and operate than the previous history box. The ability to modify plot properties after selection has been added. This allows the parameters destination, number of copies, and scaling to modified. Double click on the plot file name after it is in the Files selected for plotting box. This will open up a dialog box allowing these values to be modified. Plotting DWG/DXF files exhibited a problem with some files in that pieces of the geometry would be in the wrong location. This problem has been corrected. In the previous version, annotation within a DWG/DXF file would only plot in one orientation regardless of that specified. This problem has been corrected. A bug was introduced in version 2.0.1 that did not correctly handle the IP command in HPGL files. This has been corrected. In previous versions, pressing the ENTER key in the main Winplot dialog box would close Winplot. This has been corrected. In version 2.0.1, pressing the NEW button in the Winplot control panel/remote plotters tab without specifying a plotter name would crash the control panel application. The NEW button is now grayed out until a name is entered. Additional text support for DWG/DXF files has been added that would previously plot out formatting information. The ability to handle splines for DWG/DXF files has been added. In previous versions, generic plot files would not be processed if the system was configured for network plotting. This has been corrected. In previous versions, the character size in HPGL files was not being correctly calculated. This would result in annotation not being completely plotted that span across multiple bites on the plotter even though it appeared correct in viewplot. This has been corrected. The error message, unrecognized or unsupported command code XX at file offset yyyyy bytes has been eliminated for the HPGL commands VS, CA, CS, SS and SA. These commands, found in many HPGL files, are either not applicable to Winplot or are un-supported. This eliminates excessive error reporting. All other, less common, un-supported commands are still reported. The Delete Active menu choice has been added to the right mouse button click function in the queue manager program.

Release 2.0.1, March 15, 2000 The ability to automatically process plot files, referred to as spooling, has been added. Once enabled, WinPlot continuously scans a designated directory searching for plot files that the user deposits there. Upon completion, WinPlot deletes the plot file. The ability to process dxf and dwg file formats has been added. These formats are standard file formats generated by AutoCAD and other similar CAD packages.

Page 10 of 12 5/16/2005

The ability to send plots to a remote plotter has been added. Currently this is limited to a peer-topeer configuration. A client/server setup is valid but plots may only be sent to the local plotter. The user interface has been enhanced. Features include a plot history box, ability to plot multiple copies of a file, and the ability to select multiple files. WinPlot is now compatible with AccuMark so both can reside on the same system. A plot log file has been added that maintains a record of all plots processed as well as errors encountered. The plotter configuration section of the WinPlot control panel has been removed and added to the Gerber Devices control panel in order to make it compatible with AccuMark.

Release 1.3.0, September 22, 1999 Added baud rate selection to the WinPlot config on the control panel. Added support to read the foreign language DLL if it is present. Fixed a bug that was causing the bite length for the Infinity plotter to be corrupted.

Release 1.2.0, May 10, 1999 Added support for the Infinity plotter. Winplot can now format plot files properly for the Infinity Plotter. Added the enq/ack protocol. This protocol is currently only supported by the Infinity Plotter. Fixed a bug that was randomly causing plots to be scaled improperly. Release 1.1.2, October 26, 1998 Previous versions did not support the HPGL IP command. This resulted in subsequent SC commands to provide incorrect scaling. This bug has been corrected with the resulting relationship between the IP and SC commands as well as the input units and scale factor in the WinPlot config dialog box. System scale = (scale factor/100.0) * (output units/input units) Where: Scale factor and input units are entered through the config dialog box. The default scale factor is 100. The default for input units is 1016. Output units = 10,000. X-coord = x value * system scale * scale x Where: Scale x is the IP scale point divided by the SC scale factor. The default for scale x is 1.0. 1. Taking these variables into consideration, the following situations occur: a. With IP and SC commands in the data for a ten-inch box, by 10-inch box. the plot will be a 10-inch

b. Without IP and SC commands in the data and input units set to the default 1016, the box will plot at approximately 9.8 inch by 9.8-inch box. Page 11 of 12 5/16/2005

c. Without IP and SC commands in the data and input units set to 1000, the plot will be a 10inch by 10-inch box. WinPlot will now accept AccuMark generic plot files as input and pass them through to the WinPlot queue. In Plotter Settings, the Tool Mappings box was a feature in AccuMark that is not supported in WinPlot. This feature has been removed. Previous versions of WinPlot only supported a subset of the plotter types supported by AccuMark. WinPlot now supports the same set of plotters as AccuMark.
