Manages layers and layer properties.

ayers are like transparent overlays on which you organize
and group different kinds of drawing information.
If you have a simple drawing with only a few object, you can
get by whithout using layers. But as soon as your drawing gets
the least bit complicated, you ll want to start sorting your
objects into layers.
Layers are used to group information in a drawing by function
and to enforce linetype, color, and other standards. So, if you
set up layers, you can easily identify which object belongs to
which layer.

You will start to create a new layer by using a dialog box,
giving it a name and assigning a color. Then, you will look at
alternate ways of creating a layer through the command line.
If you have created layers, you will learn how to use the Layer
drop-down list and make some additions to the drawing.
Follow the steps bellow :

The Select Color dialog box opens.
5. In the row standard colors next to the ByLayer button,
click the green square, and then click OK.
6. When the Layer Properties Manager dialog box returns,
click OK and close it.

2. Click the New Layer button at the top of the dialog box.
3. Type Wall. As you type, your entry replaces the Layer1 name
in the list box.
4. Click the Color icon in the Wall layer listing to display a
dialog box.

3. Type CEN. As you type, your entry replaces the Layer1 name
in the list box.
4. Under the Linetype column, click the word Continuous to
open the Select Linetype dialog box.
5. Click the Load button at the bottom of the dialog box to
open the Load or Reload Linetypes.
6. Click CENTER linetype, and then click OK.

1. Click the arrow button next to the layer name.
A drop-down list opens, showing you all the layers available
in the drawing.
2. Click the Wall layer.
The drop-down list closes, and the name Wall appears in the
toolbar s layer name box. Wall is now the current layer.
You will often want to use different linetypes to show hidden
lines, center lines, fence lines, or other noncontinuous lines.
You can assign a color and a linetype to a layer.
Follow the steps bellow :

You will sometimes want to display only Wall layer to work
with in a drawing. To turn off other layers so that it becomes
invisible, you click the Off button in the Layer Properties
Manager dialog box, as shown in these steps.

7. Notice that the CENTER linetype is added to the linetypes
available in the Select Linetype dialog box.
8. Click CENTER to highlight it ; then, click OK.
CENTER appears in the CEN layer listing under dialog box.
9. Click OK to exit the Layer Properties Manager dialog box.
