My mother is a member and I am a junior member, and through this website we discovered many of my ancestors, one of whom is Dr. Perez Chapin. Editors, Charles River, ed. I used one of General John Starks quotes on my website: Live free or die. Death is not the worst of evils. This quote tied into the main reason why the colonists were fighting against the British. During this battle, he was promoted to full Colonel because of his bravery. This portrait of him is a primary source because it was painted while he was alive; he was used as a model for the painter. This picture of Colonel Henry Knox provided visual aid of what this man looked like. Knox was the military officer of the Continental Army that took the cannon from Fort Ticonderoga. History.com.
