Open Book Handbook Quiz for ADV 100/Spring 2013


1. Where do you go if you have questions about the handbook? Questions pertaining to this publications should be directed to the office of the vice president for student affairs.

2. When does Spring Registration begin? In March or April, will get an email every student get the email like 2 weeks before the registration.

3. What are the dates for Thanksgiving Holidays?

November 28th

4. When do finals begin for traditional classes?

Finals begin in the last week of the semester.

5. When do traditional classes begin for the spring semester? January 8.

6. What is the last day to drop classes without a penalty in the spring semester? February 28

7. What is the last day to withdraw from classes during the spring semester? May 3.

8. When is spring break? March 4-8.

9. When is the Easter Holiday? April 1.

12. In the MOC Creed what are you expected to do as a Mount Olive Collegian? I will practice personal and academic integrity. I will discourage bigotry, while striving to learn from differences in people, ideas, and opinions. 13. What is the rule for cell phones in Chapel, classrooms, and other presentations? Cell phone should be turned off when entering the chapel, classroom and any presentations.

14. According to the dress code is it alright to wear hats in classrooms, the dining hall, or the Chapel? Is not permitted.

15. If you have a grievance (except for grade appeals or judicial matters) where should you go? Anyone who has a reasonable and justified concern with any person or office should address the concern directly with that person or office. afterwards, if you feel your concern was not fairly addressed, you may address your concern with the next level up on the chain of command this grievance procedure ends at the presidents office where the decision is final.

16. Can you smoke in your residence hall? Is not permitted.

17. Name one radio station that carries announcements about cancellation or delay of class. WDJS (AM) 1430 (Mount Olive).

18. Should you light candles in your room? For reason of safety, no open flames or long burning items are permitted in the residence halls or apartments; this includes but is not limited to candles, etc. Any item found to be in violation of this policy will be confiscated and returned to the student upon his departure from residence.

19. Are you allowed to have a microwave in your room? If they are allowed the microwave. Microwave must be small, 700 watts or less, and designed for residence hall space.

20. What happens if you have a second violation during room inspections? A second violation will result in the offending students suspension from Mount Olive College for one semester or one year, at the discretion of the VPAA.

21. When do Quiet hours start Sunday through Thursday? Quite Hours: 8:00 p.m.- 10:00 a.m. (Sunday through Thursday? 11:00 p.m.- 10:00 a.m. (Friday and Saturday). 22. What is different about Quiet hours during exam periods? Final exam Periods- Quiet hours will be in effect beginning at 5:00 pm during the last day of classes and will continue 24- hours until the end of the last final exam each semester.

26. Are you expected to uphold the principles of conduct even when off-campus? YES.

27. Do the principles of conduct address sending or receiving obscene messages via email? Students must not use electronic media, which includes phones and computers, in ways that cause harm to other or the college. Violations of this principle include but are not limited to, using phones and computers to send annoying, harassing, threatening, or obscene messages, using these media for fraudulent purposes, or hacking into computers to gain information or interfere with their proper operation.

28. With the previous question in mind, is it an appropriate action to view pornographic sites on a computer while on campus even if it is on your own and not in the Computer Lab? NO.

29. How are charges brought against students?

30. If you bring charges against a fellow student, do you have to appear at the judicial hearing? Students must act in accordance with the proper functioning of the judicial process. Violations of this principle include, but are not limited to, lying or encouraging other to lie to college officials during investigations or hearings, hiding evidence of violation.

31. If you violate the drug or alcohol regulations, can your parents be informed even if you have not authorized them to access your school records? YES.

32. In the event of a sexual assault, what person on campus should be contacted first? In the event of a sex offense or sexual assault, the student should immediately contact the appropriate college official (in Mount Olive- the residence life coordinator or campus safety, Officer on duty).

33. Name one possible penalty for a person found guilty of sexual assault. Getting kicked out of college.
