I take this opportunity, to present to you the fifth batch of the three year full time Master of Computer Applications (MCA) Programme affiliated to Mumbai University. At SIMSR, we believe not only in academic excellence but also in the holistic development of students as well. Ever since the commencement of this programme in 2006, we have been raising the bar year after year, in terms of providing value-added education which enables MCA students to learn beyond their domain specific subjects be it Marketing, or Functional ERP with hands-on experience in SAP. Our endeavour has always been to hone the skills of students and make them ready for the new challenges that they will encounter in the markets in the near future. We foster the sharpening of skills and the enhancement of knowledge base in our students through innovative teaching methods that are on par with the emerging practices adopted by world class academic institutions. The testimony to our efforts is the fact that one of our student who belonged to the 2008-11 batch ranked 3rd in the University of Mumbai. The students not only get an exposure to the latest developments in Information Technology but are also encouraged to develop an innovative mind set and problem solving skills leading them to corporate success. In this, they are greatly helped by a highly motivating environment conducive to academic excellence facilitating them to develop in areas of their choice and deepen their competencies through industry internships. ABOUT

SIMSR

K. J. Somaiya Institute of Management Studies and Research (SIMSR) was established in 1981 as a part of the K J Somaiya Trust and Somaiya Vidyavihar, with the objective of providing state of the art education in Management and allied areas. The Institute was inaugurated by Dr. Manmohan Singh, the present Prime Minister of India, and has since established itself among the top B-Schools in India. The rigorous and case based teaching - learning process ensures that the students of the Institute are able to apply their concepts to real world business problems. The alumni have risen through the ranks and now occupy strategic positions of decision making across different industries in India and abroad.

ABOUT

MCA

MCA @ KJSIMSR is affiliated to University of Mumbai and recognized by AICTE. The first batch of MCA (2006-2009) graduated in the year 2009. The Institute achieved its academic glory when one of the student of 2008-2011 ranked 3rd in the position of merit at University of Mumbai. Apart from conducting sessions as per the curriculum requirement, the MCA program aims at developing competent IT professionals and inculcating in them: Conceptual and analytical skills leading to a deeper understanding of the business environment. Strong interaction with the industry to understand latest trends and ground realities in the field of Information Technology. Sound value system with focus on business ethics, teamwork, integrity and commitment. The ability to work with dedication in small, highly motivated groups to successfully achieve preset targets. As value-added modules the Institute has launched programmes in the area of Marketing Management and ERP SAP functional module. This will help students perform during the internship programs and in their career thereafter.

Project Internship

STUDENTS PLACEMENT

PROFILE ROCESS

1. Project Work during the last semester of the MCA course is mandatory as per Mumbai University norms. Companies can select the students for either the project alone or project followed by confirmed recruitment after project work. 2. A Pre Placement Talk (PPT) is expected to be delivered by the company to the students whereby job profiles, career growth path, compensation package and so on could be shared by the company. These PPT dates could be fixed as per the convenience of the company. 3. After the PPT, interested students have to sign up. The company may like to administer their own selection process for such signed up candidates. The details of such selection process like dates for technical tests/ interviews will be finalized as per the convenience of the company. 4. The company has to then send the Select List to SISMR. Offer letters for such selected students are to be forwarded to SIMSR and companies are requested not to send the offer letters directly to the selected students. 5. SIMSR has a policy of one offer per student and students are blocked from further participation in the process after the first confirmed selection. It is imperative that the company decides at the earliest about the selection of students so that the same students are not selected by more than one company during the time lag. Placement Process starts from 1st September, 2012
