Overview
This report will touch on several areas within your organization we found needing revising. We have narrowed this down to those we feel are in need of immediate attention. Our project team has created a mission and vision statements along with an overview of the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats to your entity and an updated gaming logo. We will delve into your Human Resources department and move on to marketing strategy and demographics, and finally financials and risk management. Currently Elisabeth Barret is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and founder of CanGo which is an internet retailer that began in 1996. CanGo is leasing a warehouse in Kingston, New York and at this time sells books, magazines, movies, music and games, as well as manufacturing MP3 players and acquired WebJouster in an attempt to venture into online gaming in July 2000. As a quick review the only area CanGo is turning a profit is in their book sales division. The public offering of stocks was set for April 2000 and with that Initial Public Offering (IPO) it has raised one-hundred thirty million at its release. Shortly thereafter stocks did not do as well with the release of the online gaming sector. Coast to Coast Managerial Experts aim is to have CanGo stand apart from its competitors. This report will show how this can be accomplished by improving some key areas of your business. Your organization does not have a mission or a vision statement. The strategic focus and plan for CanGo will be needed to help with the step up to the next level. This will encompass the mission statement which we have created: Our mission at CanGo is to provide entertainment for all individuals with inspiring books, a variety of movies and creative gaming for fun and friendly competition. A long-term vision statement has been added to compliment the new mission statement.

2 In the future, CanGos vision is to continue providing entertainment and growth through technology and to become internationally known for all of its products while ensuring a positive public image. We have also added to your already famous logo for your expansion into the gaming industry. This new addition will show the consumer the known integrity of CanGo while branching into this new area. (Appendix 1)

SWOT Analysis
Coast to Coasts SWOT Analysis (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats) Strengths Large well know company with identifiable logo Great mission and vision statements if our company is hired Coast to Coast Managerial Experts Financially stable

Weaknesses Competition New unknown product No association with a know character or movie Human Resources recognized holidays

Opportunities Bringing a new product into the gaming industry Diverse market National and Global Coast to Coast Managerial Experts

Threats Competition Shipping bad reputation from previous years National and Global competition The recognized holidays can have a detrimental impact on the bottom line

The strengths can be made stronger, weaknesses can be cultivated and your company can take more advantage of its opportunities. Knowing the threats is half the battle as this awareness

3 can help to overcome these threats with good strategic actions. This knowledge will lead to a more successful business over your competitors.

Human Resources
One of the glaring issues noted was the fact that the employees do not seem to be properly classified within their positions. While much of the personnel have the credentials to work in a business environment, they are not placed in the departments where they have the most potential for success. To maximize the highest potential for CanGo, we have put together an outline for a Compensation and Job Classification Program which also includes the process for determine a hybrid job for those wearing many hats. This will assist in developing job descriptions, benchmarking pay ranges and opportunities for promotions. (Appendix 2, Appendix 3) Another issue noted is the Holiday observances. In an attempt to provide optimal benefits CanGo is affording the staff ten observed holidays while leaving the largest grossing shopping days of the year for a retail business unattended. For example: Christmas Eve (last minute rush) Day after Thanksgiving (also known as Black Friday) Presidents Day (often a major sales day)

These money making sales days require their best customer service staff to handle the large volume of orders which will enhance the bottom line. If CanGo wants to entice skilled employees and to offer ten days off the entity can offer alternatives and allow for personal days (two at the most) to be taken at leisure. (Appendix 4)

New Idea Process

CanGo does not have a process for voicing and reviewing new ideas. Encouraging input from employees is crucial to the success of any business. The staff should have the proper channels to have their ideas recognized. We have created a document we named the Eureka form as in, Eureka, Ive got an idea! The employee notes the idea and submits the form to bring it to fruition. It is then submitted to a manager for review and it goes up the chain from there. If the idea is chosen, it goes through a more formal process to decide how it will work best, such as a design review. It is recommended that management sets goal for submission of these forms, such as one a month. (Appendix 5)

Nonfinancial Goals One year Customer Service

CanGo has had an issue with maintaining its customer service and has received multiple complaints against them. The next step would be to offer education and training to the customer service representatives to ensure better service. Answering the phone promptly, keeping a positive attitude when handling an irate customer, giving speeding and correct information about the products and services in a timely manner.

Orders
To fix the problem of CanGos late order arrivals, back ordering issues and finding desired merchandise for the customers, a new system has to create for these orders. A special division of customer service representatives should handle these problems with immediate attention. Contacting the customer, fixing the order problem, offering other incentives for the mistake as well to guarantee the customer they will receive the product they have ordered. Making sure that the customer is happy with the solution to this problem will be a top priority.

Easy Find
A sister website should be created from CanGos online gaming/merchandise website. This website would be able to provide information about items that were purchased. After purchasing products, customers will receive a tracking number to trace when the product has been shipped, at what points it will stop and arrival time as to when it will deliver directly to their door. This information can also be accessed through CanGos customer service team as well.

Developing relationships
By developing relationships with competitor, this can lead to teaming up with marking and advertising of certain products. This could also help the company gain insider information as to what company is releasing certain products and how CanGo can make its next decision in their products, specialty items being released and promotional products.

Enhance relationships
Use major events to advertise CanGos name and logo. For example: gaming tournaments for video games, sponsoring Nascar Motocross, College Bowl games, Olympic athlete or team. CanGo not only selling gaming products but books and magazines as well that may feature these events.

Branding
Create brand awareness by using our logo, positioning statement and theme whenever possible and in the correct format. Promote your organization in positive and memorable ways. Maintain brand, logo and message consistency.

Social Media Plan

Create a strong social media presence for CanGo by building and maintaining a LinkedIn presence, creating a Face book page or establishing a Twitter account. This can then decide how

6 many connections, fans or followers you'd like to have by a specific date, making measuring this objective for marking easy and consistent. Using the internet with their website or purchasing banners to put on other well known pages such as Facebook, yahoo, Google, ask.com and Twitter will grab the consumers attention along with sweetening the purchase with special discounts.

Two year Strengthen Relationships

CanGo will need to focus on bring in new customers while maintain the current relationship with previous and consistent customers. Focusing on the new products, creating a superior customer service experience and giving incentives to customers or companies that have been with the CanGo for a period of time would strengthen relationships.

Introduce a New Service

Creating new services and keeping up with competitors in the new market is imperative and ensuring CanGos products go above and beyond the competitors when it comes to 100% stakeholder satisfaction. Branching off into new divisions of electronics such as computers, IPods, MP3 players and other specialty items will enhance the profits.

Selling New Services

CanGo is offering the online gaming service that is appealing to all ages. Making sure that the service is offered to the right people who would be interested and selling the product should be a definite focus. Any other products or warranties with these products should be offered as well to keep the customers happy with the many services CanGo has to offer.

Five Year
Change a perception of a firm by its market consider looking into another area of the market such as combining a product with another company or seeing their products in big box electronic stores which will keep the customers and competitors on edge not knowing what to expect for the company.

Broaden a Geographic Base

Consider marketing out of the United States and taking the products over to Canada and the U.K. Making the name on CanGo known around the world for the products, online gaming, DVDs and books. Start out small then expand when the demand grows in other countries. CanGo will provide an arrangement of options for purchasing their products; the first option will be from manufacture to consumer; the customer will be afforded the opportunity to order products or purchase gaming points through the CanGo.com website. Another comes from manufacturer to retailer to consumer; CanGo should offer their product to retailers like Best Buy and Game Stop. The last choice of distribution would be Manufacturer to wholesaler to retailer to consumer. Marketing and sales will be buying CanGos products for the retailer and selling these items to the consumers.

Knowledge of Merchandise/Products
Understanding what the merchandise and products and what they used to be till now. Knowing the advancements and continuing to think of creative ideas for the company and the constantly changing products.

Understanding the Competition

More experienced staff will be able to compare the competitors to CanGo. This would help them able to predict and contemplate the competitors next move as a company. Focusing

8 on their products and having a good understanding as to what is to be expected. Having experience and bring it the new and creative ideas for CanGo.

Competitive Advantage Product Perks

We have noticed that CanGo is having issues with marketing their products they need to show ways to market the name, products and provide excellent customer service in the process: CanGo is offering an arrangement of products that reflect the electronic and social media world. Ranging from Movies, DVDs to books and Magazines and now the latest project of gaming and online gaming. When purchasing with CanGo the company offers: Top of the line DVD/Blu Ray Quality; earliest releases of video games. The customer will find only the latest and most recent articles. Warranties will come with all products sold with the exception of the books and Magazines. CanGo will offer 90 day money back guarantees with the receipt of purchase if the customer is not 100% satisfied.

Outstanding Customer service

If a customer is in need of assistance he or she can call the hotline and a customer advocate will be more than happy to assist. 1-800 hotlines will be available 24/7 to assist consumers.

Advertising
Using the internet with their website or purchasing banners to put on other well known pages such as Facebook, yahoo, Google, ask.com and Twitter will grab the consumers attention along with sweetening the purchase with special discounts. Running short commercials on the television that will catch the watchers attention and get them thinking about purchasing electronics and exploring the world of online gaming. A short advertisement with a catchy tune

9 on the radio will target the younger players and inspire a purchase. Many prefer reading the newspapers, magazines, and clipping coupon thus this type of advertising space would prove profitable when trying to bring grandparents into the online gaming loop. The child mentions a game; the elder recalls the statement and make the call or online contact to purchase the item. Make CanGo a well know company while driving by placing eye catching information on billboards. This triggers an impulse buy while on the road to keep the kids quiet for the long journey. Offering promotional and special offers on different DVDs/games, for free test trials, coupons and other and discounts to for CanGos customers is another avenue to pursue.

After reviewing the top five gaming sites listed to see what games are played the most. In doing this, they will know This will give us some insight as to what games to offer on our gaming site as well as our own software. The chart focuses on games to be played on 3DS for their global market as well as Japan, Xbox 360 for their North America market and PS3 for their Europe market. If CanGo considers the console market they should include the Wii, Xbox 360 and PS3 as their choices as well as these are also the top playing games per the weekly average statistics.

Marketing Statistics 2010

The online gaming market is worth $15 Billion 20 million players spent 17 billion hours on Xbox Live 40 million registered PlayStation Network accounts Weekly average time spent playing in the US in 2010 o 7.3 hours on Xbox o 6.6 hours on PC o 5.8 hours on PS3 Top 5 gaming sites visited in 2010 o Pogo.com o Real Arcade o Big Fish Games o Game Tap o Disney Top 5 Consoles in 2012 o 3DS 15.8 million o Wii 95.0 million o Xbox 360 64.5 million o PS3 61.4 million o PS Vista 0.5 million The top games they should focus on are the Wii and Xbox 360 and maybe even the PS3.

Top Game Played in Local

These statistics show the gaming industry growing nationally and globally and breaking into the market at this time based on the popularity of the competitors if a great marketing strategy is in place the company should thrive.

Inventory Control
Making the company more visible on the internet will improve inventory turnover resulting in more products sold. CanGos short- and long-terms goals to decrease its inventory by 1% in the next year, 3% the next 2 years and 5% the next 5 years are doable. These goals will improve each time we surpass a milestone during the course of this eighteen month rehabilitation project. To make your company visible on the internet is the use of pay-per-click. The company will pay a small fee to have your information appear at the top of a web page when potential customers use search engines to find an item. One could be looking for CanGo Software thus the company will pay 15 when consumers click on your website searching for a product. The advantage is the company just spent 15 to make $50 and will only be charged when a potential customer actually clicks the website when they do an internet search for a CanGo item

13 Investigating computers showed the most compatible laptops for gaming which are Acer Aspire Timeline X and the Dell Inspiron. Forming an alliance with one or more of these entities could prove profitable contracting one of your games as software installed on their computer with a 30-day free trial. CanGos current Assets are about five times its Current Liabilities. This means your company has finances available to invest in more assets. The company could now invest in an Automated Storage Retrieval System (ASRS) which would be an additional asset to your organization.

Conclusion
This report is based on the information we have collected while speaking with all stakeholders inclusive of employees, vendors, and customers. We have toured your facility and have every reason to believe we will be an asset in bringing CanGo to a higher ranking. We look forward to working with you and using our expert skills to get the company ready for success.

Hybrid/Best Fit Job Classification Guidelines for CanGo

Business Objectives Ensure all employees are properly classified. When an individuals role matches to multiple jobs, none of which constitutes a full time assignment. Determine Assignment Conduct a review of the organizations structure and the incumbent's roles and responsibilities. 1. Identify the appropriate job function Determine the job in which the incumbent spends the highest percent of his time OR where they are making their most significant contributions to the business Identify which function the job belongs to 2. Identify an appropriate job level; entry, career, expert Refer to the factors such as Level Definitions, General Descriptors, Knowledge etc to select the employees level For classification into the Expert and Master job levels, a key consideration is whether there is a business need for this level of work to be performed. Incumbent education/experience alone are not sufficient to warrant a move to one of these levels 4. Classify the employee, submit to Human Resources CanGo Standards & Guidelines Only evaluate duties which constitute 20% or greater of the time spent Exclude duties that are not standard to the position (e.g., the employee may do.) Performing multiple jobs doesnt necessarily justify moving the incumbent to the next level

When to Use Steps in the Process

18
Key Questions 1. What is the primary nature of the work performed within the overall department? 2. How and where has this work been performed before? 3. What is the relationship of this job to other jobs in the department? 4. How much overlap is there with other jobs in the department? 5. If there is a large overlap, what are the job classifications being used for those positions? 6. What are special skills and knowledge critical to the position?

19 Appendix 3 Objectives of a compensation program are: To ensure that compensation programs and tools provide managers the ability to attract, retain, develop and reward employees based on performance.

Job Classification Program: Need Job Descriptions Job Descriptions should be generic for benchmarking pay purposes Format and content information is needs to be consistent All jobs must have a description Common issues with a Job Classification Program: Employees can be misclassified due to out-of-date descriptions, must get them in place and keep them current Managers select job classifications based on pay range vs based on the job content Employees do not have defined career paths this is imperative to CanGos success in expanding Recruiting tools are lacking. CanGo needs accurate job descriptors for posting and pay ranges for offers Pay ranges can be out of date. CanGo needs to keep up with salary surveys to ensure this doesnt happen Managers are not confident that they are paying stellar performers adequately

How to Properly Benchmark Pay Participate in premier surveys including Hewitt, Towers Perrin, Mercer, Watson Wyatt, GATX and Radford Analyze market data based on industry cuts and geography locations Develop competitive pay ranges for CanGo Do an annual review of pay ranges

Government Regulations A US Senate bill aimed at collecting online sales taxes is gaining support from retailers, including onetime critic Amazon. The Marketplace Fairness Act would allow states to collect sales tax from online purchases. FTC has gotten involved in making internet sales safe for consumers. A list of these regulations can be found in their Dot Com Disclosure Handbook. Here is a breakdown of the things it covers: Place disclosures near - and, when possible, on - the same screen as the claims they qualify.

21 Use text or visual cues to encourage consumers to scroll down a Web page when it's necessary to view a disclosure. Display disclosures prior to a purchase, but recognize that placement limited to only the order page may not always work. Review the entire ad to ensure that other elements - test, graphics, hyperlinks or sound don't distract attention from the disclosure. Repeat disclosures on lengthy Web sites and when repeating claims, as needed. Display disclosures for a sufficient length of time for consumers to notice, read and understand them. Use clear language and syntax so that consumers understand the disclosures.
