VISION

The vision of Broken Into beautiful (BIB) is to be a nonprofit organization that will provide support, counseling, and build relationships through the use of weekly meetings with both believers and non-believers and encourage spiritual growth and a stronger relationship with Christ. What is Vision? Definition According to Barna (2009), vision is a reflection of what God wants to accomplish through you to build his kingdom (p. 28). Vision is the beginning of ministry. It is what drives an organization to persevere. It is the future. A vision statement is what the organization tends to become. Why Vision? Advantages Vision is so important to building a lasting ministry. Vision is what propels a group into the future. It pushes people to see beyond what is in front of them to what can be. There are many advantages to vision. One advantage is that vision promotes growth. Vision promotes the future. The vision is the means to define the parameters within which the future will emerge.1 It is not for a leader to think of what is but what it can become. Vision is a motivator, for others to keep strong when obstacles block the goal. Another advantage of vision is that it is a confidence booster. When a vision is properly implemented and promoted, it can increase confidence, satisfactorily addressing concerns, and instills a feeling of excitement and anticipation.2 Vision, inspired by God promotes efficiency. One wants to do things based on Gods urging. The

VISION vision creates order, which is an important component of making a vision last. Barner (2009), states when the vision is in place, a sense of urgency about ministry is present. Procrastination feels like sin. The vision enables us not only to feel the urgency, but also to sustain the energy needed to accomplish the job efficiently.3 A great vision will keep an organization honest. The vision statement allows one to evaluate their values and ethical standards. If honesty is a high value of anyone in the organization then when he or she does something dishonestly, he or she will know that one has compromised his or her vision.

With knowing all these advantages, BIB wants to continually reevaluate its vision to make sure that the vision is doing what it is expected to do and making sure that the vision is in line with Gods will. Doing so will help make sure that the vision makes a positive impact for all members of the organization. An effective vision will be an advantage for our organization both within the organization and within the community. On the inside it can prove to be an inspiration and on the outside it can help establish the company in the community while further helping the identity of the organization stand out. Quality in Vision A vision can be implemented by anyone, but not every vision is a vision. The quality in the vision statement can be seen by how it is prepared and by whom it was inspired. A vision is specific to the goal that the company intends to accomplish. Vision

is specific, detailed, customized, distinctive, and unique to a given church.4 I believe that the quality in vision for BIB is still a work in progress; because this is a new and upcoming organization I believe that more time needs to be taken to make the vision more precise and effective. The quality in vision is seen when the vision statement outlines specific future elements that the organization is intended to create for themselves. Ultimately, the vision is one with quality when it is inspired by God and is used to bring God glory. The Bible says in Colossians 3:23, whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men. 5 Vision is not what we have just randomly come up with it is a reflection of what God wants to accomplish throughout you to build his kingdom.6 The quality in vision is seen in whom it motivates. When a vision is good it motivates others to move towards it. As BIB continues to grow I pray that God will revamp our vision so that it will be one that draws people and keeps them stimulated to continually fulfill the work of God.
