Installing the FS600i Floor Stand

Use the FS600i floor stand to install your SMART Board 600i interactive whiteboard system anywhere. You can assemble the floor stand in two ways: Free-standing: Install the rear support legs to support the stand. Wall-tethered: Use a wall to partially support the stand.

To move the floor stand, partially disassemble the unit, install the casters and roll it to a new location. WARNING These instructions replace the chapter entitled Installing 600i Series Interactive Whiteboard Systems in the SMART Board 600i Series Interactive Whiteboard System Installation and Configuration Guide. Before you begin, read the safety warnings and precautions included at the beginning of the guide.

To install your SMART Board 600i interactive whiteboard system on your FS600i floor stand, you must: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. Assemble the floor stand as either a free-standing (page 6) or wall-tethered (page 18) unit. Install the projector (page 28). Connect the cables from the extended connection panel (page 30). Install the SMART Board interactive whiteboard (page 31). Install the control panel in the pen tray (page 34). Install the pen tray (page 35). Install the extended connection panel (page 36). Complete the installation (page 37).

Sorting the Hardware and Parts

Before you begin, you may find it helpful to sort the bolts, nuts and washers included with your FS600i floor stand, as well as the larger parts that make up the unit. Use the diagrams and associated tables on the following pages to determine the items you need for each step in the assembly procedure.

Installing the FS600i Floor Stand

Assembling the FS600i Floor Stand (Free-Standing Installation)

Use these instructions to assemble your FS600i floor stand as a free-standing unit. This type of installation is ideal if you dont have a wall to install the SMART Board 600i interactive whiteboard system on. To assemble the floor stand, you must: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Assemble the rear support structure (page 6). Assemble the upper legs (page 7). Assemble the FS600i (page 8). Install the wall tether, projector and interactive whiteboard brackets (page 14). Complete the floor stand assembly (page 16). WARNING Two people are required to safely assemble the FS600i floor stand and to mount the 600i interactive whiteboard system.

To assemble the rear support structure

1. For each rear horizontal leg (S), screw in a leg leveler (L) and secure with an I hex nut.

IMPORTANT Do not use the 5' 11" (1.8 m) USB cable provided with your projector to connect the projector to the interactive whiteboard. Reserve this cable to connect the projectors extended connection panel to your computer.

3.

Connect the power cable (j) to the power connector on the connection panel and turn on the power button to put the projector into standby mode. Dont plug the cable into a power outlet at this time.

To mount the interactive whiteboard

1. 2. 3. With the help of another person, temporarily hang the interactive whiteboard on the interactive whiteboards mounting bracket. Plug the projectors power cable into a wall outlet, and turn on the projector using the remote control. Unlatch the projector boom clamp closest to the base, extend the first section completely, and then latch the clamp.

WARNING

Press the projector remotes power button to cool down and turn off the projector before unplugging it from the wall outlet. Unplugging the power cable or pressign the power button on the projector before performing this shut-down sequence greatly reduces bulb life and could cause the bulb to explode.
