The Game World Set 50 years after the events of The Old Kingdom Chronicles, the game: The

Abhorsen, places the player into a world beginning to writhe in the grip of descending darkness. Years of peace and plenty have led to the Old Kingdom flourishing and relations between the Old and Southern Kingdoms had never been better, with trade and diplomacy benefiting both sides of the Wall. Queen Sabriel and King Touchstone have ruled the country with a firm but fair grip, and the Abhorsen although elusive has been seen stalking the kingdom, defending its subjects from the Dead. As the Queen and King have aged, their daughter Ellimere began to grown into her role as heir to the throne, whilst their son Sameth, the Warden of the Wall continues to develop the uses of Charter magic. Lirael, the Abhorsen, originally enjoyed the time of peace quietening the minor uprising of the Dead and secluded her self in Abhorsen's house, content to research and practice her art. However, of late she has grown restless, venturing farther, wider and deeper into the Old Kingdom, in search for Dead to bind, Necromancers to foil, and knowledge to uncover. During this time, the Clayr began to sense something approaching not dark at first, but something big, an upheaval of the peace so hard won. As the years went by their portents were not thought much of other than to speculate that it might refer to the succession of Ellimere to the throne, some new discovery of the Warden, or some new development in the relationship between the Old and Southern Kingdoms. In a way, all the speculators were right. Touchstone's health waned, and eventually he died peacefully. Sabriel abdicated the throne, to mourn and to act as advisor to the new Queen Ellimere. The move brought a great deal of unrest amongst the dignitaries of the Old Kingdom, who did not welcome change in this time of prosperity. Meanwhile, Sameth the Warden had finally managed to imbue modern Southern technology with Charter magic allowing it to exist the other side of the Wall. Initially heralded as a great triumph, since it allowed the Wall sentries to better defend them selves against the Dead, it soon brought unexpected consequences. Corolini's fascist party succeeded, under shady circumstances, in taking over Ancelstierre and soon decreed that is was time the Southern Kingdoms expanded into the North. Using the new combination of Charter magic and Southern technology, Corolini has begun to make forays into the Old Kingdom, moving the border far beyond the Wall. Fierce fighting has been taking place, with the Southerner's having the upper-hand. Amongst all this turmoil, the increase in the number of Dead, the disturbances in the winds of Magic, the warnings of the Clayr the Abhorsen has not been seen. Calls for help have gone unanswered, the Abhorsen's house found empty. She was last heard to be heading north, to the mountains of the Clayr. However, even their warnings have ceased in recent years, and there are rumours that the north has fallen to some kind of darkness. Beset from the north and south by war and terror, the Royal bloodline attempts to retain control and order, an increasingly difficult task while chaos runs rife. At the largest council ever held in the courts of the Queen, no solution can be reached and argument has reached fever pitch. Whilst red-faced politicians shout at red-faced dignitaries a small white cat with a red collar enters the chamber, dragging a sack behind it attracting the silence and attention of all present. My name is Mogget, and the time of 55th Abhorsen... has come.
