Details on the DAS timeline notification

a. By Notification dated November 11,2011, Government issued a master notification indicating the dates from which it would be obligatory for every cable operator to transmit or retransmit programmes of any channel in an encrypted form through a digital addressable system as summarized below: i. Phase 1: October 31, 2012: Mumbai Municipality/Delhi NCT/Kolkata Metropolitan Area and Chennai Metropolitan Area. ii. iii. iv. Phase 11: March 31, 2013: 38 Metropolitan cities over 1 million population. Phase 111: September 30, 2014: All other urban areas. Phase 1V: Rest of India by December 2014

Who is a Multi System Operator? Multi-System Operator ( MSO ) means a cable operator who receives a programming service from a broadcaster and/or his authorized agencies and re-transmits the same or transmits his own programming service for simultaneous reception either by multiple subscribers directly or through one or more local cable operators (LCOs), and includes his authorized distribution agencies by whatever name called. What is SMS? SMS stands for Subscriber Management System. (SMS) is a combination of hardware and software, as well as human activities that help organize and operate the companys business. SMS maintains all subscriber relevant information and is responsible for keeping track of placed orders, credit limits, program subscription, subscription expiry, invoicing and payments, as well as the generation of reports and statistical information
